Air Quality Prediction

The document discusses the development of a machine learning model to predict the Air Quality Index (AQI) by analyzing historical and real-time environmental data, highlighting the health impacts of air pollution. It emphasizes the importance of accurate AQI predictions for public health and policy-making, particularly for vulnerable populations. The project aims to inform the public about air quality levels and associated health risks, while also simulating pollution scenarios to guide regulatory actions.

MOTIVATION
 The sources of air pollution include emissions from industrial plants; automobiles;
planes; burning of straw, coal, and kerosene; aerosol cans, etc. Various dangerous
pollutants like CO, CO2, Particulate Matter (PM), NO2, SO2, O3, NH3, Pb, etc. are
being released into our environment every day.
 Chemicals and particles constituting air pollution affect the health of humans, animals,
and even plants. Air pollution can cause serious diseases in humans, from bronchitis to
heart disease, from pneumonia to lung cancer, etc.
 Poor air conditions lead to other contemporary environmental issues like global
warming, acid rain, reduced visibility, smog, aerosol formation, climate change, and
premature deaths.
 A higher level of AQI indicates more dangerous exposure for the human population.
Therefore, the urge to predict the AQI in advance motivated us to monitor and model air
quality.
 Climatic fluctuations not only affect humans and animals but agricultural factors and
productivity are also greatly influenced .The Air Quality Index (AQI), an assessment
parameter is related to public health directly.

 Scientists have realized that air pollution bears the potential to affect Vehicle emissions,
atmospheric releases of power plants and factories, agriculture exhausts, etc. which are
responsible for increased greenhouse gases.

 The greenhouse gases adversely affect climate conditions and consequently, the growth of
plants. Emissions of inorganic carbons and greenhouse gases also affect plant-soil
interactions.
Solving the Problem Identified

 Various models have been exercised to predict AQI, like statistical, deterministic, physical, and
Machine Learning (ML) models. The traditional techniques based on probability, and statistics are
very complex and less efficient.

 The ML-based AQI prediction models have been proved to be more reliable and consistent.
Advanced technologies and sensors made data collection easy and precise. The accurate and
reliable predictions through ML algorithms can deal with efficiently.

 firstly we have to investigates past years of air pollution data of the Indian cities and analyzes air
pollutants and AQI.
INPUTS AND OUTPUTS

Data Collection: It is nothing but collecting excel

sheet of data set as a input.
Pre-processing: It is a process of analyzing the data
in the excel sheet .
Feature extraction: filtering the data and removing
the duplicates is called as feature extraction.
Data visualization: It is showing the result in bar
graphs,diagrams etc..
Training(data to machine) and testing the data:
Train the data and test the data after the splitting the
data.
Apply the algorithm: applying the supervised
learning classification under random forest and
decision tree algorithm.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
 Developing a machine learning model to predict the Air Quality Index (AQI)
by analyzing historical and real-time environmental data, addressing
complexities such as dynamic atmospheric conditions, pollutant interactions,
and meteorological factors.

 The goal is to create an accurate, reliable model with practical applications for
public health and policy-making.
UTILITY OF THE PROJECT
 It informs the public on the air quality level in their surroundings and, therefore the related
potential health hazards, particularly for vulnerable groups like children, older people, and
people with cardiovascular or respiratory diseases.
 Inform public regarding overall status of air quality through a summation parameter that is
easy to understand.
 Inform citizens about associated health impacts of air pollution exposure and Rank
cities/towns for prioritizing actions based on measure of AQI.
 Breathing clean air can lessen the possibility of disease from stroke, heart disease, lung
cancer as well as chronic and acute respiratory illnesses such as asthma. Lower levels of air
pollution are better for heart and respiratory health both long- and short-term.
 Defines the maximum amount of a pollutant averaged over a specified period of time that
can be present in outdoor air without harming public health, and thus, it defines clean air.
 Estimate the relationship between pollution sources and their effects on air quality and
Predict the impacts from potential emission sources.
 Simulate ambient pollution concentrations under different policy scenarios.
 Understand, investigate, assess, and regulate the quality of the atmospheric environment
and Predict the way pollutants behave in the atmosphere.
 Run scenarios, test theories, and understand environmental impact under different
emission rates, weather, and development scenarios.
 Predict future pollutant concentrations from multiple sources after the implementation of
a new regulatory program.
FEASIBILITY STUDY
ABSTRACT

 Air pollution has become a huge and dangerous issue all over the world. Many
scholars are interested in it because of its strong connection to human health.
People are becoming more concerned about better techniques of monitoring air
quality data, which is critical in protecting human health from significant health
problems caused by air pollution.
 Many researchers are working on real-time air quality monitoring and forecasting
in order to obtain precise data that will aid in the implementation of various
government policies concerning the environment or air pollution, as well as the
making of critical decisions.
 Many recent breakthroughs in air quality forecasting and monitoring systems have
been made.
