Polynomials Class 9th

The document is a presentation on polynomials for a 9th-grade class, explaining definitions, types (monomial, binomial, trinomial), and properties such as degree and zeros of polynomials. It includes examples and problems to find zeros of given polynomial equations, as well as a quiz section to test understanding. The presentation concludes with a thank you note and lists the members involved in the group presentation.

POLYNOMIALS

CLASS:9TH-F
GROUP PRESENTATION
FROM ROLL NO.7-13
DUCTION
INTRO
an equation formed with variables,
exponents, and coefficients together with
operations and an equal sign.
EX:-x2 + 3x + 2 = 0

A polynomial of 1 term is called a

monomial. Example: 2x.
A polynomial of 2 terms is called a
binomial. Example: 5x + 2.
A polynomial of 3 terms is called a
trinomial. Example: 2x + 5y – 4.

POLYNOMIAL IN ONE VARIABLE
VARIABLES ARE DENOTED BY THE ALPHABETS LIKE x,y,z.etc.

 Polynomials in one variable

are algebraic expressions that consist
of terms in the form axn where n is a
non-negative (i.e., positive or zero)
integer and a is a real number.

DEGREE OF
POLYNOMIAL
A polynomial’s degree is the
highest or the greatest power
of a variable in a
polynomial equation.
1. A POLYNOMIAL OF ONE
DEGREE IS CALLED A
LINEAR POLYNOMIAL.
2. A POLYNOMIAL OF TWO
DEGREE IS CALLED A
QUADRATIC POLYNOMIAL.
3. A POLYNOMIAL OF THREE
DEGREE IS CALLED A CUBIC
POLYNOMIAL.
ZERO OF THE POLYNOMIAL
Zeros of a polynomial can be defined as the points where the polynomial becomes zero as a whole.

CONSIDER THE POLYNOMIAL : p(x)=5x^3-2x^2+3x-2

If we replace x by 1 everywhere in p(x),we get
p(x)=5*(1)^3-
2*(1)^2+3*(1)-2

=5-2+3-2

FIND THE ZERO OF THE POLYNOMIAL IN EACH
OF THE FOLLOWING CASES?

(i) p(x) = x+5

(ii) p(x) = x–
5
(iii) p(x) =
2x+5
(iv) p(x) = 3x–2
solution
s
p(x) = x+5
(i) ⇒ x+5 = 0
⇒ x = −5
(iii)p(x) = 2x+5
⇒ 2x+5 = 0
∴ -5 is a zero polynomial of the polynomial ⇒ 2x = −5
p(x). ⇒ x = -5/2
∴x = -5/2 is a zero polynomial of the polynomial
p(x) = x−5 p(x)
(ii)
⇒ x−5 = 0
⇒x=5
∴ 5 is a zero polynomial of the polynomial p(x). (iv) p(x)= 3x–2
⇒ 3x−2 = 0
⇒ 3x = 2
⇒x = 2/3
∴ x = 2/3 is a zero polynomial of the polynomial
p(x).
