Benefits of using a

LAN/Home network
The two models of LAN:
 Peer-to-Peer networks: They share their resources with other
computers in their network. They don’t use servers.
 Client -server- network: A network that uses client and servers
What is the server's role in the client server model of networking?

The server hosts, delivers, and manages most resources and services
for the clients, such as access to files, sharing network resources, and
providing large computational services.
Benefits of Local Area Network ( LAN )
 Shared peripherals
 Shared data
 Flexible access
 Media streaming
 Communication
 Shared access to internet
Benefits of client-server networks
 Control of user access rights
 Centralized administration
 Centralized backups
 Shared software
 Shared storage and file access
 Roaming profiles (hot desk)-The ability to log into any computer in an
office to see your setting and files.
