dashboard.
Business Intelligence
 Business Intelligence is a set of processes and
Techniques to analyze raw data an extract information
that helps business decisions
 It helps to keep track on business data and draw
valuable insights
 There are several tools that play a key rule business
intelligence
 Some of the popular tools are Power BI, Tabelu and
clip you
Introduction to Power BI
Power BI is a business analytics tool developed by
Microsoft that empowers users to visualize and share
insights from their data. It offers a comprehensive suite of
features for data preparation, analysis, and visualization,
making it a valuable asset to be used by businesses across
various industries
Features of Power BI

 Power BI Desktop
 Stream Analytics
 Multiple Data Sources
 Custom Visualization

Power BI Desktop:-
Power BI Desktop is free software that can download and
install, and it allows to build reports by accessing data
easily. For using Power BI desktop, do not need advanced
report designing, or query skills to build a report.
Features of Power BI

Stream Analytics:-
Power BI's primary advantage is its support stream
analytics. From factory sensors to social media sources,
Power BI assists in real-time analytics to make timely
decisions.

Multiple Data Sources:- Support for various data sources

is one of the vital features of Power BI. Can access
various sources of data such as Excel, CSV, SQL Server,
Web files, etc. to create interactive visualizations.
Features of Power BI

Custom Visualization:-
While dealing with complex data, Power BI's default
standard might not be enough in some cases. In that case,
can access the custom library of visualization that meets
your needs.
Components of Power BI

 Power Query
 Power Pivot
 Power View
 Power Map
 Power BI Desktop
 Power Q&A
Components of Power BI

Power Query
Power Query is the data transformation and mash up the
engine. It enables to discover, connect, combine, and
refine data sources to meet your analysis need. It can be
downloaded as an add-in for Excel or can be used as part
of the Power BI Desktop.
Power Pivot
Power Pivot is a data modeling technique that create data
models, establish relationships, and create calculations. It
uses Data Analysis Expression (DAX) language to model
simple and complex data.
Components of Power BI

Power View
Power View is a technology that is available in Excel,
Share point, SQL Server, and Power BI. It create
interactive charts, graphs, maps, and other visuals that
bring your data to life. It can connect to data sources and
filter data for each data visualization element or the entire
report.
Components of Power BI

Power Map
Microsoft's Power Map for Excel and Power BI is a 3-D
data visualization tool that map our data and plot more
than a million rows of data visually on Bing maps in 3-D
format from an Excel table or Data Model in Excel.
Power Map works with Bing maps to get the best
visualization based on latitude, longitude, or country,
state, city, and street address information .
Components of Power BI

Power BI Desktop
Power BI Desktop is a development tool for Power Query,
Power Pivot, and Power View. With Power BI Desktop,
and it is easier to develop BI and data analysis experience.
Power Q&A
The Q&A feature in Power BI explore our data in our
own words. It is the fastest way to get an answer from
your data using natural language.
Installing Power BI Desktop
 The first step is to download and install the application
on your computer.
 Power BI is available in both desktop and online
versions, providing users with flexibility in how they
interact with their data.
 Can download Power BI Desktop for free from the
Microsoft website, while Power BI Pro and Premium
subscriptions offer additional features and capabilities
for enterprise users
Power BI Service
 Power BI service is the Software as a Service (SaaS)
part of Power BI. It is also known as Power BI Online.
To access Power BI Service.
 The cloud-based platform allows users to publish,
share, and collaborate on reports and dashboards. It
provides features for data governance, security, and
administration, making it ideal for enterprise
deployments.
Connecting to Data Sources

 Once you have installed Power BI, you can start

connecting to your data sources.
 Power BI supports a wide range of data sources,
including Excel spreadsheets, databases, online
services, and cloud platforms such as Azure and
Google Analytics.
 By connecting to your data sources, you can import
data into Power BI and begin creating visualizations to
gain insights.
 To connect to a data source, select the data source from
the Get data window and select Connect.
Connecting to Data Sources

A connection window appears. Enter the URL or

resource connection information, and then select
OK.
Connecting to Data Sources

Depending on the data connection, to provide

credentials or other information. Power BI
Desktop connects to the data source and presents
the available data sources in the Navigator dialog
box.
Select the tables and other data that you want to
load. To load the data, select the Load button at
the bottom of the Navigator pane. To transform or
edit the query in Power Query Editor before
loading the data, select the Transform Data button.
Connecting to Data Sources
Build data-driven analytics

 Once you've connected to your data sources, the next

step isto build data models within Power BI.
 Data modeling involves defining relationships between
different datasets, creating calculated columns and
measures, and shaping the data to suit your analysis
needs.
 Power BI provides a user-friendly interface for
building data models, allowing users to transform raw
data into meaningful insights effortlessly
Build a basic dashboard

 Once you have created individual visualizations, you

can combine them into interactive reports and
dashboards.
 Reports allow you to organize and present your
visualizations in a coherent manner, enabling users to
explore data and gain insights.
 Dashboards provide a high-level overview of key
metrics and KPIs, allowing stakeholders to monitor
performance and make informed decisions in real-time
