BACKSTORY:
It started when…
1. Jose Rizal was exiled to Dapitan.
2. Bonifacio realized that the propaganda movement of Rizal will
no longer work.
3. Bonifacio created a secret organization in 1892 named Kataas-
taasang, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng
Bayan or KKK.
4. Unfortunately, it was discovered in 1896 due to some issues.
5. Spaniards started to imprison some people who they thought
were KKK members.
6. Bonifacio was alarmed and started to call a meeting. He
wanted to start the revolution as soon as possible.
7. Some members disagreed because they thought it was still
early. But, Bonifacio still insisted.

The term "cry' " refers to the first clash
between the Katipuneros and the Civil
Guards.

accompanied by patriotic shouts.

He is notable for being the one assigned by the Katipunan to seek Jose
Rizal's approval of the revolution
He was arrested for participation in the insurrection but revealed in
Sept. 1 1896 that he received an amnesty from the Spanish govt
He was exiled to Madrid and then sent to Africa. • He returned to the
Philippines in 1899 to resume his medical profession but was
subsequently arrested as the gov't thought he will start or inspire
another insurrection.
