What is Research

o Research in common parlance refers to a


search for knowledge.
o Scientific investigation and way of thinking

o Research is one of the ways to find answers to


your questions.

o Research is a detailed study into a specific


problem, concern, or issue using the scientific
method.

o Some people consider research is a


movement from the known to the unknown.

o Research is a logical and systematic search


for new and useful information on a
particular topic.

o It is an investigation of finding solutions to


scientific and social problems through
objective and systematic analysis.

o It is a search for knowledge (information),


that is, a discovery of hidden truths.
Research is a systematic method consist of
the following:
Saying problem,
Formulating hypotheses,
Collecting the facts or data,
Analyzing the facts
 Reaching conclusions in the form of solution or
generalization

Virtualization

o The concept of virtualization made many


achievements in computing till now and is
of great future potentials.

o One example that fits here is cloud


computing and the machine that enabled it.

Machine Learning
o A field of computer science that uses
statistical techniques to give computer the
ability to learn with data, without being
explicitly programmed.

o Google has been making contribution to this


field in the filtering of search.

o Other applications that take the field to a


more advance level would be what?

o Programming will always be under
development.

o How to get languages more optimal and if


there is a new language to be invented
soon, what problem it targets?

o Could this language be the one that keeps


balance between security and openness?

 IoT
o The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of
interrelated computing devices, mechanical and
digital machines, objects, animals or people
that are provided with unique identifiers and
the ability to transfer data over a network
without requiring human-to-human or human-
to-computer interaction.

o Today computers, and, therefore, the internet,


are almost wholly dependent on human beings
for information.

What are the Objectives of Research?
The prime objectives of research are

To discover new facts


 To verify and test important facts
 To analyze an event or process or phenomenon to
identify the cause and effect relationship
To develop new scientific tools, concepts and theories to
solve and understand scientific & nonscientific problems
To find solutions to scientific, nonscientific and social
problems
To overcome or solve the problems occurring in our
every day life.

This question is fundamentally related to the


nature of the identified research problem.

o Problem of physical nature, it may be


appropriate to undertake controlled
laboratory experiments.

o Problem relating to animals or human


behavior, difficult to control research
environment.
