RESEARCH CAPSTONE

The Research Process and the Research Topic

Choosing a research topic

1. Novel – it should provide a ‘new’ body of knowledge. This

can be a topic that is least explored.
2. Feasible – it can be finished within the allotted time and
available resources.
3. Applicable – it should serve a purpose and importance in
a particular sector.
4. Interesting – it will sustain your interest and motivation
from start to finish. Choose a topic that you will greatly
enjoy.
Choosing a research topic

5. Specific – it should neither be too broad nor too narrow. It

should be enough to make the project doable and can
answer a specific problem, it should also still have an
impact on the society and community
