Artistic Skills
and
Technique to
Contemporary Art
Creation
The technique in art
production primarily used in
the visual arts, where the
artwork is made from the
assemblage in different
forms, thus creating a new
whole.
Collage may sometimes include
magazines, newspaper clippings, ribbos,
paints bits of colored or handmade papers,
portion of other artwork & text, photograph
& other found objects glued to a piece
paper or canvas.
it’s the opposite of
collage; instead that an
image is being built up all or
parts of existing image, are
created by cutting, treated
away or otherwise removing
pieces of an original image.
The French word “Decollage”
in English means “Take Off”
or “To become Unglased”
Or “To become unstock”. Example of
decollage etresissements & cut up
technique. Similar technique is the
lacerated poster, a poster in w/c one has
been placed over another or others & the
top poster or posters have been ripped,
revealing to a greater or lesser degree the
poster or posters underneath.
They are writings or
drawings that have been
scribbled, scratched or
painted illicitly on a wall or
other surface , often in a
public place. It ranges from
simple written words to
elaborate wall painting
Graffiti may express underlying social
& political messages & a whole genre of
artistic expression based on spray paint
graffiti styles. An example of this is the
Singapore art bridge just beside the Oxford
hotel. It was painted by a Batanes-born
artist in the person of Pacita Abad.
Earthworks or earth art
is an art movement in w/c
landscape & the work of art
are inextricably linked. It is
also an art form created in
nature, using natural
materials such as soil, rock
(bed rock, boulders, stones),
organic media (logs, branches,
leaves) & water w/c
introduced materials
concrete, metal, asphalt or mineral pigments.
Sculpture is not placed in the landscape
rather, the landscape is the means of their
creation, Often earth moving equipment is
involved. The works frequently exist in the
open, located well away from the civilization,
left to change & erode under natural
condition.
it is an artistic work of
practice that uses digital
technology as an essential
part of the creation or
presentation process. Digital
art is placed under a large
umbrella termed new media
art.
After some resistance
the impact of digital
technology has transformed
activities such as painting, drawing, sculpture &
music/sound art w/ new form such as net art.
Digital installation & visual have become
recognized artistic practice. More generally the
term digital artist is used to describe an artist
who makes use of digital technologies in the
production of art. “Digital Art” is a term applied
to contemporary art that uses the method of
mass production or digital media,
The technique of digital art is used
extensively by the mainstream media in
advertisement & by film makers to produce
visual effects. Both digital & traditional artists
use man sources of electronic information &
programs to create their work.
In visual arts, it refers
to the artwork in the
making of w/c more than
one medium has been
employed. It refers to the
artwork of visual art that
combines various traditional
distinct visual art media for
example work on canvas
that combines paint, ink &
collage.
When creating a printed or photographed
work using mixed-media, it is important to
choose the layers carefully & allow enough
dying time between layers to ensure that the
final work will have structural integrity. If many
different media are used it equally important to
chose a sturdy foundation upon w/c the
different layers are imposed.
Many effects can be achieved by using
mixed-media. Found objects can be used in
conjunction w/ the traditional artist to attain a
wide range of self expression.
It is a process of
making artwork by
printing normally in a
piece of paper. Prints are
created by transferring
print from a matrix or
through a prepared screen
to a sheet of paper or
other materials. Common
type of matrices include
usually copper or zinc or polymer plates for
engraving or etching; stone, aluminium or
polymer for lithography, blocks of wood for
wood craft & wood engravings & linoleum for
linocuts, screen made of silk or synthetic
fabrics are used for the screen printing
process.
