3 Introduction to Generative AI

What is AI?
 AI, or Artificial Intelligence, is a kind of technology
that helps machines (like computers and robots)
think and make decisions. Imagine a robot that can
answer questions, play games, or help you search the
internet—those are examples of AI in action! AI
helps computers learn and improve their answers by
looking at lots of information.

 What Is generative ai?
 Generative AI is a special type of AI that can
actually create new things, like images,
music, stories, and more. It's like giving a
computer a paintbrush, a pen, or an
instrument and teaching it to make original
artwork or write stories. Imagine you have a
super-smart robot friend who loves to make
cool stuff—like art, music, stories, and even
funny jokes! This friend is called Generative
AI. Unlike regular computers that only
follow rules, Generative AI is creative! It’s
like handing a robot a paintbrush, a guitar, or
a magical pen and saying, "Hey, make
something awesome!"
[Unit 1: Introduction to Web Design] Course: NIELIT ‘O’ Level (IT)
Module: M2-R5: Web Designing & Publishing
5 Examples
 Here are a few fun examples of how generative AI can
create new things:
 ChatGPT - Imagine you’re chatting with a
super-smart robot that can answer questions, tell
jokes, and even help with your homework!
ChatGPT can talk about almost anything
because it’s read tons of books and websites.

 DALL-E - This is an AI that makes amazing

pictures based on your ideas! You could tell it,
“Make a picture of a dragon riding a
skateboard,” and it would draw a brand-new,
creative image of exactly that. It’s like an artist
who can draw anything you imagine.
[Unit 1: Introduction to Web Design] Course: NIELIT ‘O’ Level (IT)

6
 AIVA : Ever wanted your own music? AIVA is an AI that can create music just for you,
even if you don’t know how to play an instrument! You can ask it for a happy tune or a
spooky sound, and it will compose something fresh and unique. AIVA offers a free
version that lets you generate classical compositions. You can choose the style and
length of the track, and it's useful for creators needing royalty-free music for videos,
presentations, etc. Some features are locked behind a premium tier.

 Animoto – Wanted to create videos using text? Runway ML is a versatile AI tool that includes a
text-to-video generation model. The platform provides access to Stable Diffusion, Green
Screen effects, and even models for generating characters from text. It allows creative freedom
with features such as video editing, object detection, and more. You can start with free credits
and create short videos from text prompts.

8
 Story Generators (Plot Generator)- There are AIs
that can create entire stories! You could tell it,
“Write a story about a superhero penguin,” and it’ll
come up with a creative adventure for your penguin
hero. It’s like having your own personal storyteller!

 Plot Generator is an AI-based tool that lets

you input elements like genre, character traits,
and plot points to create short stories, novels,
or even poems. It offers several templates,
such as mystery, fantasy, and adventure,
allowing you to specify themes or character
backgrounds to get tailored story ideas.

Generative AI is like having a whole team of creative friends

who can make art, music, and stories whenever you want.

9 AI vs Generative AI
 AI and Generative AI have similar goals, but they work in
slightly different ways. Here’s a fun comparison:

 AI: AI is like a helpful assistant. It can analyze things,

answer questions, and even detect patterns. Think of it as
a smart helper.

 Generative AI: Generative AI goes a step further. It

doesn’t just help; it creates. Imagine a helper that can not
only answer questions but also paint pictures, write
songs, and even imagine things that don’t exist!

 In short, AI is good at answering questions, while

Generative AI is great at creating new things.

10 AI Ethics
 AI (Artificial Intelligence) is all
around us, from Siri on your
phone to the cool robots in
movies. But just because AI is
smart doesn’t mean it always
makes the right choices! AI
ethics is like the rulebook for
AI, making sure it’s used in a
way that’s fair, safe, and good
for everyone. So, let's break
down the important things we
need to think about when it
comes to AI:
[Unit 1: Introduction to Web Design] Course: NIELIT ‘O’ Level (IT)
Module: M2-R5: Web Designing & Publishing
11
 Bias: Is AI Fair?
 What’s Bias? Sometimes, AI can be unfair if it’s trained on the wrong or unbalanced data. Imagine if an
AI was trained to recognize people’s faces but only saw pictures of people with light skin. It might have
trouble recognizing people with darker skin, which is unfair!
 What to Do? We need to make sure AI treats everyone equally—whether you're tall or short, blonde or
brunette, and from anywhere in the world.
 Privacy: Keep Your Secrets Safe!
 What’s Privacy? AI needs a lot of information to work. But when it collects personal details, like your
health data or shopping habits, we need to make sure it’s safe and private. You don’t want your secrets
getting out, right?
 What to Do? Make sure you know what information is being collected, and that it’s only used for good
things. And remember, just like you wouldn’t want someone snooping around your phone, AI needs to
respect your privacy too!
[Unit 1: Introduction to Web Design] Course: NIELIT ‘O’ Level (IT)
Module: M2-R5: Web Designing & Publishing
12
 Transparency: How Does AI Make Decisions?
 What’s Transparency? Imagine if a teacher gave you a grade
but never told you how they decided. Wouldn’t that feel unfair?
AI should be transparent, meaning it should explain how it
makes decisions so we understand what’s going on.
 What to Do?If an AI makes a mistake, we need to know why it
happened and who’s responsible. If a robot makes a mistake,
who fixes it—its creators or the people using it?
 Jobs and Society: What About Us?
 What about Jobs? AI can take over some jobs, like self-
checkout machines at stores. This can be cool because it saves
time, but it also means some people might lose their jobs.
 What to Do? We should make sure that while AI is helping,
people aren’t left without work. And we should help people
learn new skills so they can do exciting new jobs that AI
creates!
[Unit 1: Introduction to Web Design] Course: NIELIT ‘O’ Level (IT)
Module: M2-R5: Web Designing & Publishing
13
 Big Risks: Can AI Get Too Smart?
 What’s the Danger? AI is awesome, but what if it gets too smart and
starts doing things humans can’t control? Imagine a robot that starts
making decisions for itself—scary, right?
 What to Do? We need to make sure that AI stays under control,
especially if it’s used in something serious like making decisions in war
or law.
 The Environment: Don’t Let AI Hurt the Planet!
 What’s the Problem? Training AI takes a lot of energy, which can be
bad for the environment if it’s not done responsibly.
 What to Do? We need to make AI smarter and more energy-efficient
so it doesn’t hurt the planet. And hey, AI can even help us find ways to
save energy and protect the environment too!
[Unit 1: Introduction to Web Design] Course: NIELIT ‘O’ Level (IT)
Module: M2-R5: Web Designing & Publishing
14
 Sensitive Areas: When Should We Be Extra Careful?
 What’s Sensitive? Some areas, like healthcare or surveillance
(watching people), require extra care. AI can be amazing, but it
must be used responsibly, especially when it comes to our health
or privacy.
 What to Do? AI should be used carefully in areas like
medicine, and people should always have control over their own
personal information.

even the game’s storyline. You don't need to be a coding expert to get started!
 Example: You want a game where players explore a haunted castle? Just tell the AI about the setting, the
enemies, and the quests, and it can help you bring your game idea to life!

 Save Time for More Fun Stuff

 Instead of spending hours doing the same thing, you can use AI to do the hard work for you. This means
more time for things you enjoy—like hanging out with friends or playing sports!
 Example: If you need a quick, fun background for your project, you don’t need to spend ages drawing it.
Just tell the AI what you want, and it will make it for you in no time!
