MS PowerPoint
INTRODUCTION
Presentation software: is a
category of application software
that is designed to display
information in the form of slides.
Presentation software is generally used for
creating slideshows that display information.

The software has three main components:


Text editor for inputting and formatting
text
Facility for inserting graphics and other
multimedia files
Slideshow system for displaying the
content
Examples of Presentation Software
Microsoft PowerPoint (Windows)
LibreOffice Impress (Unix)
 Keynote (Apple)
Google Slides (Online)
Kingsoft Presentation
Zoho Show
Corel Presentations
Microsoft PowerPoint (PPT)
PowerPoint is an application
software developed by Microsoft
for making presentations.

Microsoft PowerPoint which is


also known as PPT is the most
commonly known presentation
software.
Starting Microsoft PowerPoint 2007.
Basically there are two ways to start Microsoft
PowerPoint. You can start it through the start
button (icon) or from the desktop icon.

Desktop icon:
Double click the MS PowerPoint icon on the
desktop. Or Right click on the MS PowerPoint
icon then click open.

Powerpoint Slides
A slide is a single page of a
presentation created by
PowerPoint.
 A presentation consists of
several slides.
Powerpoint Slides
Slides contain placeholders, which are
areas on the slide that are enclosed by
dotted borders.
Placeholders contain many
different items, including text,
pictures, and charts

Slides vs SlideShow
A slideshow is a collection of
pages arranged in sequence that
contain text and images for
presenting.
 It often refers to a Microsoft
PowerPoint presentation

Advantages
1. It is easy to download and use virtually
anywhere.
2. It can make a presentation more
interesting.
3. It is easy to customize each slide to meet
specific needs.
4. It is reasonably affordable for most
professionals.

Disadvantages
1. It needs skilled and technical people
use it effectively
2. Slides with too much information on
them can become tiresome
3. It is costly as it requires frequent
updates.
