Plural Nouns
Aplural form of a
noun names more
than one. It usually
ends with s or es.
Add es to make nouns
plural that end with:
 s
› buses
 x
› taxes
 ch
› benches
 sh
› dishes
Rule 1
 To change most singular
nouns to plural nouns, add s

chair cat rock

chairs cats rocks


Rule 2

For nouns ending in


sh, ch, s, x, add es
brush church grass box

brushes churches grasses boxes


Add ies to make nouns plural
that end with a consonant and a
y:

lady
ladies

fry
fries
Rule 3

For nouns ending in y


after a vowel, add s
day toy essay boy

days toys essays boys


Rule 4

For nouns ending in y


after a consonant,
change the y to i and
add
