THE EXERCISE PROGRAM

What Makes your Body Move?

The skeleton is the body framework


of the body. It is composed of 206
bones of different sizes and shapes.
These are connected at the joints to
allow movements brought about
the muscle contraction and
relaxation. This bone structure
supports the body and protects the
soft or gains inside it.
MUSCLE
- are attached to the bones. A
muscle is composed of short and
long fibers grouped In bundles and
surrounded by connective tissue.
When stimulated, the muscles
contact and relax, thus causing
movement. Normal heathy muscle
are firm and resilient. They have
good muscle tone. Muscle are not
exercised they tend to dry up and
began to become saggy and flabby.
They cannot effectively protect the
bones and joints injury thus
exposing to strain injury.
BASIC POSITIONS AND POSSIBLE
MOVEMENTS

Basic Arm Position and Movements


• Raise
• Bend and stretch
• Swing and sway
• Thrust
Body Positions while Standing, Sitting,
Kneeling and Lying down
Straddle or feet apart position
Lunging position
Long sitting position
Straddle long sitting position
Elbow- support position
Kneel sitting position
On all fours position
Reversed on all fours position
Supine lying position
Prone lying position
