INTRODUCTION
The Philippines has power problem because of the increasing number of
people and increased usage of electricity. Conventional energy resources
are inadequate, thus attempts are made to seek other forms of energy such
as renewable energy. One possible way is using piezoelectric technology to
generate electricity through the pressure created by footsteps, the
electricity being stored in batteries to charge devices. This energy is
captured and stored with the help of sensors, microcontroller and other
components of the project.
The objective is to assess whether the installation of piezoelectric
generators in areas with high vehicle traffic or pedestrian traffic such as
roads and sidewalks is a viable source of electricity useful for low income
PROBLEM
With the nation's population growing rapidly, the demand for electricity
continues to rise. This increasing need has led to significant power
shortages, resulting in frequent outages in many areas. Despite the
availability of various energy sources, they remain insufficient to meet the
needs of individuals and businesses, both within and beyond the
Philippines. To address this issue, efforts from the government, private
sector, and other organizations have focused on developing renewable
energy solutions to help bridge the gap in electricity supply.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
This conceptual framework focuses on the development of a Piezoelectric Walkway,
designed to harness the energy generated from footsteps to produce electricity. The
inputs for this model include piezoelectric discs, springs, plywood, and a single-socket
power outlet box. The process involves gathering and analyzing data, testing the
device's performance based on defined parameters, and generating alerts as needed.
The ultimate goal is to create an efficient Piezoelectric Walkway capable of converting
the weight of pedestrians into a sustainable source of electricity.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION
This study focuses on the Footstep Power Generator, an innovative device that converts the energy from
walking into electricity. As a renewable and eco-friendly energy source, it offers a sustainable solution by
generating power without causing pollution, releasing toxins, or harming the environment.
However, the device has its limitations. Unlike solar panels that can continuously generate power when
exposed to sunlight, the Footstep Power Generator requires consistent human interaction—specifically,
footsteps—to produce electricity. This means that its energy output is minimal without regular use, making it
best suited for high-traffic areas where consistent movement can maximize its efficiency.

GROWING DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY
Electrification of virtually every activity in our daily lives has resulted in the wasteful
use of energy. Using the energy created from footsteps especially in crowded areas
like was shown in the video above is one of the best ways of tapping the energy. This
approach is most effective in the densely populated countries because many people
when in a move, can be transformed to generate power which can be used daily.

PIEZOELECTRIC EFFECT
The direct piezoelectric effect, discovered by Pierre and Jacques Curie in 1880, occurs when
certain materials generate electric charges on their surfaces when subjected to mechanical
stress, with the charges proportional to the stress. The converse piezoelectric effect, found by
Gabriel Lippmann in 1881, is the reverse process, where these materials experience geometric
strain when an electric field is applied.

PROGRESS OF PIEZOELECTRIC MATERIALS
This article presents a discussion of pot pie of piezoelectric materials which include;
quartz, Rochelle salt, barium titanate, PZT, lithium niobate/tantalate, relaxor
ferroelectrics, PVDF, lead-free piezoelectrics and composites. This work also explains
how these materials perform and presents their uses in transducers, sensors,
actuators, SAW devices, and frequency control systems. When readers are going
through this paper, the author wants them to gain new ideas based on such a history
for further developments of the piezoelectric materials.

GROWING DEMAND FOR ELECTRICAL ENERGY
The need for electrical energy has grown and as a result depleted most of the energy
resources available. The real solution is literally located under our feet, in the kinetic
energy of step, which is usually wasted as heat. It will be noted that piezoelectric
transducers can change this mechanical energy to electrical energy whenever
pressure is applied. These transducers are connected in series-parallel and embedded
in tiles made from materials like wood. Such tiles can be placed in high-traffic areas
such as pavements or exercise equipment.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The type of research design that the
researchers will use is experimental design.
This approach involves determining the
feasibility of harnessing electricity form
footstep energy using piezoelectric material.
