Aristotle
A renowned Greek Philosopher, developed one of
the earliest models of communication. His model,
often referred to as the ARISTOTELIAN MODE.
Speaker:
The person who delivers the message.
COMPONENTS OF THE Speech:
ARISTOTELIAN MODEL
The message itself, including its content and
structure.
Occasion:
The context in which the communication
takes place
Audience:
The intended recipients of the message.
Effect:
The desired outcome or impact of the
communication.
THE THREE
APPEALS ETHOS
Establishing credibility and
trustworthiness.
PATHOS
Appealing to the audience's emotions.
LOGOS
Using logic and reason to support arguments.

Engineer
WEAVER
-American Scientist
Mathematical Theory of Communication
also called
as “Shannon- Weaver Model of
Communication”
Designed to develop the
effective communication
between sender and receiver.
Also they find factors which
affecting the communication
process called “NOISE”.
The model was developed to
improve the Technical
Communication and later widely
applied in the field of
communication.
Components of the
model:
BERLO’S
SMCR
This communication model is a simple
yet effective framework for
understanding the various components
involved in the communication process.
Components of Berlo’s
SMCR
SOURCE : THE SENDER OR ORIGINATOR OF THE MESSAGE
~Knowledge, skills, attitude and social-economic stats
MESSAGE :THE CONTENT BEING COMMUNICATED
~Content, Structure, and Treatment
CHANNEL : THE MEDIUM USED TO TRANSMIT THE MESSAGE
~Visual, Auditory, Tactile, Olfactory, and Gustatory
RECEIVER : THE RECIPIENT OF THE MESSAGE
~Knowledge,skills, attitudes, Social-economic stats
Lasswell’s Model of
Communication
~Is one of the first and most influential models of
communication.
~Initially published by Harold Lasswell in 1948.
~Laswell’s Model of Communication in Terms of Five basic
questions: “WHO?”, “SAYS WHAT?”, “IN WHAT
CHANNEL?”, “TO WHOM?”and “WITH WHAT EFFECT?”.
Lasswell’s Model of
Communication
~Laswell’s Model of Communication in Terms of Five basic
questions: “WHO?”, “SAYS WHAT?”, “IN WHAT
CHANNEL?”, “TO WHOM?”and “WITH WHAT EFFECT?”.
These questions pick out the five fundamental components
of the communicative process: the sender, the message,
the channel, the receiver, and the effect.
