Process Visualization
Process Visualization is to analyze business
process using event log data or process data
and how we can improve our process.

• We start with process data or event logs.

• Then form into process maps to
understand what's happening in process.
• We can use those maps to generate
process insight or ways to improve those
process bottlenecks.
With the help of process mining tools like Celonis we
can auto generate process maps, and we can use
this to drill and explore to identify ways to make it
better.
Process mapping provides a
clear, data-driven view of
these workflows, helping to
uncover inefficiencies and
drive continuous
improvement.

As process mining is data

driven, It can show
 Deviations
 Reworks
 Bottlenecks

Filtering
1 Filter based different departments ,
Eg: Sales, Production or all combined
in one;

As well as

Using metrics like frequency,

throughput time, etc.

2 Below, there’s different tabs.

Process Explorer visualises process flow.

Select activity, then in case explorer,

the Case ID, Number of activities,
duration and case key can be found Video explaining the

Activity Frequency in Process
Analysis
The count of how often specific tasks
or actions occur within a process.

1. Process map visually presents activities, 7
transitions, and key metrics. 8
2. Baseline graph connects the Process Start

to the Process End.
3. Node: Each activity in the process is displayed as 5
a node. 2
4. Edge: Each connection between activities is
displayed as an edge.
5. Activities: The coverage of Activities in Process
map
6. Connections: The coverage of transitions 3 4 6

Activity Frequency in Process
Analysis

Activity Example:
•The activity “Press: Exiting - Conveyor moving left” occurs in only 59% of cases.

Case Breakdown:
•Appears in 19 cases, absent in 13 cases, revealing its frequency across process flows.

Importance of Analysis:
•Frequent activities may indicate critical steps or areas for optimization.

Possible Actions:
•Investigate if the frequency is expected or can be streamlined.
•Assess its impact: Does it add value or cause delays?

Rework
To identify and visualize instances where steps or
tasks in a business process are repeated
unnecessarily.

1.
1 Select cases based on the number of
occurrences of single activities.
2.
2 Set the range of occurrences you want to select

on the histogram below
