Juvenile Delinquency is oftenly traced back to three causes that exerts a significant influence on a
young person’s life. Firstly, a dysfunctional family greatly contributes to delinquent behaviour. Growing
up in a house hold with conflict, instability or neglect disrupts a child’s emotional and social
development. Furthermore, living in poverty with limited education and poor healthcare, young
individuals resort to criminal activities as a means of survival. Lastly, negative peer pressure is a very
strong contributor to Juvenile Delinquency because the desire to be accepted in a group can mislead
adolescents into crime, influenced by the values of their associates.
In conclusion, Juvenile Delinquency is a serious issue in our society. Juvenile Delinquency not only
affects the individual, however the society and family are also affected.
