Mini-roleplays
Roleplay 1:
A: Good morning, Professor Kim.
B: Hi, Ross. Where are you going?
A: I’m going to block C. I have a class this morning.
B: By the way I heard that you’ve been doing a
research on intercultural communication. That’s
good. I accidentally found an interesting article on
this topic. I think it will provide you with useful
information.
A: That’s great. Professor Kim, would it be alright if I
copy it?
B: No problem, I guess. And I wand to hear your
comments when you finish reading it.
A: It’s my pleasure, but I’m afraid I have to go now.
My class begins in 5 minutes.
B: Ok, bye Ross.
A: Goodbye , Professor Kim.
Roleplay 2
A: Hey, buddy. Long time no see.
B: Yeah, wow you look fresh. How was your
vacation?
A: Fantastic! We had excellent hotel, absolutely
delicious food. And the scenery? More than you
can imagine.
B: You’re damned lucky.
A: How about yours?
B: Not very special. I stayed at home and relaxed.
At weekends I played golf with Bob and Mark.
A: Sounds boring.
Roleplay 4:
A: Hey, Mon. Did you happen to hear the rumor about Jack
and Jill. They are a couple now.
B: Ya, it could make an amazing story, but look I have to go
now. I’m late for a date.
A: Ok, just one more thing. Did you know who’s just dumped
Jack? Jill’s best friend: Phoebe. How strange is that?
B: Yes, it’s strange but, Kate, I’m really busy…
A: By the way Jack is famous for being a lady-killer. I don’t
know what others see in him. He’s not a smart guy and he
isn’t that handsome.
B: Ok, listen Kate. I really must go now otherwise I’ll be in
trouble.
A: Come on, take it easy. Hey, you’ve got a new haircut. I
didn’t notice that. It’s cute. And today’s a good day…
B: Sorry to interrupt but I’m going now, see you Kate.
A: Ok see ya.
