Background of the Study

“What a child can do in cooperation

today, he can do alone tomorrow.”

-Lev Vygotsky
The study is focused on the effect of
modular distance learning on grade 10
students’ academic performance and their
coping strategies at Don Mariano C.
Veneracion National High School.
Statement of the Problem
1) What is the profile of the Grade 10 students in
the School Year 2021-2022 in terms of:
a. Age
b. Gender
c. Socio-economic Status
d. Parents’ Highest Educational Attainment
2) What is the level of academic performance of the
Grade 10 students during the 3rd quarter of School
Year 2021-2022 when modular modality was
implemented?

3) What is the level of academic performance of the

Grade 10 students during the 4th quarter of School
Year 2021-2022 when face-to-face modality was
implemented?
4) Is there a difference between the levels of academic
performance of Grade 10 students during the Modular
Distance Learning and the face-to-face modality during
the School Year 2021-2022?

5.) What are the coping strategies of Grade 10 students

who underwent the Modular Distance Learning and the
Face-to-Face modality during the School Year 2021-
2022?
Hypothesis

This study will be anchored on the hypothesis that

there is a significant difference between the levels of
academic performance of Grade 10 students during the
Modular Distance Learning and the face-to-face
modality during the School Year 2021-2022.

Gap Bridged by the Study

After the implementation of the modular distance

learning and the face-to-face modality in the
academic year 2020–2021, the academic
performance and coping mechanisms of grade 10
pupils at Don Mariano C. Veneracion National High
School may not have been sufficiently studied.
