Guess the Emojis Game!

The teacher will show pictures, letters, or emojis

which serve as the clues to describe the words or terms.
The students may guess of what those pictures mean.
These words are of use in the discussion of the new
topic. After, students will also try to match the introduced
term to its corresponding meaning as provided in the
visual aids.

Topic: The
Different Patterns
of Non-Mendelian
inheritance
1.Incomplete Dominance -happens when one allele is not
completely dominant to the other. In this case, the resulted
phenotype is a blend between two traits.
For example, a baby with a
wavy hair can be born from a
couple that one of them is with
straight hair and the other is
with a curly hair.
2. Codominance – when both alleles are simultaneously
expressed in the heterozygote. The resulting heterozygotes
exhibit the traits of both parents.

For example, when red buffalo

is crossed with a white one
their offspring will demonstrate
both colors.
3. Multiple Alleles – a gene that is controlled by
more than two alleles

For example, blood

type with more than
two alleles.
Punnett Square – it is a square diagram
that is used to predict the genotypes of a
particular cross or breeding experiment. It is
named after from Reginald C. Punnett. This
diagram is used by biologists to determine
the probability of an offspring having a
particular phenotype.
How to do the Punnett
Square?
For example, crossing a pure red flower (RR)
with a pure white flower (rr).

Genotype: Rr – 100%

Let’s Do
This!
1st Round
The group will arrange their chairs and form a
circle. There will be 5 successional questions to
be given. Each of the group will agree among
themselves of what will be the correct answer.
Then, answer will be written by the leader in a
piece of paper and raise it as the allotted time is
over. The number of correct answers is equivalent
to their points.
It refers to 3 or more alleles of a
1 single gene that code for a single
trait.
a. Codominance
b. incomplete dominance
c. multiple alleles
When both alleles forms show up
2 in the individual, is called ____.
a. Incomplete dominance
b. Codominance
c. Multiple alleles
What type of inheritance do
3 two alleles have if their traits
blend together?
a. Codominance
b. Incomplete dominance
c. Multiple alleles
A red flower plant (RR) breeds with
4a white flower plant (rr), what
percentage of the pink flowers?
a. 25% c. 75%
b. 50% d. 100%
Brown cow (BB) mated with white
5 cow (bb). What is the percentage
of having spotted cow (Bb)?
a. 25% c. 75%
b. 50% d. 100%
2nd Round
The group will have to solve the problem
presented by the teacher using a Punnett
square. They can use a manila paper
provided by the teacher to write their
answer. Correct answer is equivalent to 5
points.
What would be the resulting
offspring of a cross between
long-tailed (HH) cat and with
short-tailed cat (hh) be?
3rd Round
Mystery question. Each group will have to
find that one question assigned for them;
once found it, the representative from the
group will have to read and answer it.
Correct answer is equivalent to 5 points.
What have you learned from this
lesson?
What are the 3 patterns of non -
mendelian inheritance?
What is the importance of
understanding the inheritance?
Thank you!
