asked them.
 The second teacher said: ".... I ask a student to read the text. And other friends listened to
the reading of the text read by their friends. After reading, explain the text together. Then I
asked them to look up what those words meant by my guidance. And I say, let's open the
dictionary, we will explain it together.
THE TEACHER'S STRATEGY IN TEACHING READING

1. Transltion Strategy
 The teacher used translation strategies for students to read to always look for vocabulary,
and write on their assignments
 to make students active in the class while learning, motivating them by opening a
dictionary.

looking for difficult words. And the researcher looked at the transcript when the teacher
want through the reading material.

1. Translation

a lot of vocabulary. In each meeting of the English lesson, the teacher asked students to
translate the vocabulary from the text by opening a dictionary related to the topic they are
studying.

to help students to know vocabularies.
2. Scaffolding
 The first teacher said that: ".... first, open the book you are going to study on what page.
And I gave them time to understand one by one from the text, but it did not start from the
first chair. Sometimes I choose randomly, a middle draft, or back seat to read and translate
and listen to by their friends in their seats, so there is no ream to be noisy when learning
English.
 The second teacher said that: "... I explain, what will we learn?" if the theme was a
narrative or legend that they like, I'll show them the picture, this is a Malin kundang
picture. Do they know about the story? if they have a description about it. I gave them
texts and they read and discussed them. Discuss it and do the exercises and finish.
In the results of the interview
 the first English teacher used the first text reading strategy.
 Teacher two asked students based on their seats and then asked them to translate the
text. After translating, students will get the translation results.
in the results of the observation
 the first teacher strategy in teaching reading is the same as the results of the interview.
however, the second English teacher had an interview showing that she used the text
reading strategy but only one student read the text,
 the second teacher selects students to randomly read the text and show difficult words in
the text and give them their meaning. Students must translate other vocabulary by
themselves. After that, the teacher and students discuss the material together.
