    Location
    The location we have chosen for this area would
    be the hanneman saji mandi. We picked this
    area as it was one of the prominent and well
    known area in gomti nagar that was being
    ignored by everyone.

    While this area may look not that polluted in this


    view, the actual
    plots and lands that surround the sabzi mandi are
    filled throughout with plastic bags and trash.

    OUR AIM
    Thousands of dejected faces standing in line with nothing but a polybag of trash in
    their hands. This is the situation of countless of people in India waiting for their
    turn to dump trash in the plain unused grass field.
    We can all agree that a change is needed. So to bring that change, we plan to
    take an initiative and do something about it. That is, Bhumimitram.
    VISION
    our motto for now is fighting against soil pollution specially the plastic
    waste and converting the area into green space. Our planet faces two
    significant environmental challenges: plastic pollution and soil erosion.
    These interconnected issues threaten ecosystems, biodiversity, and
    human well-being. Vegetable vendors, often overlooked players in the
    environmental landscape, can play a crucial role in mitigating these
    problems.
    CAUSE BEHIND THE
    PROBLEM
    The root cause behind rising plastic pollution is
    definitely the increased production of polythene bags
    , carelessness of the citizens and the lenientness of
    the government in implementing the laws. After all
    the surveys conducted by our team we concluded
    that we as citizens do not accept our mistake and
    that’s where we lag the first step to a change is
    acceptance and to make a change in the world we
    need to change ourselves and hence we need to stop
    the use of plastic
    EFFECT
    The consumption of plastic is leaving a great impacts in our lives in
    some or the other way , it is a cause to all sorts of pollution , it clogs
    the water bodies in the area where it is dumped , which results in water
    logging and hence it gives birth of many life threatening diseases. Most
    of the times the polythene bags are burnt which results in air pollution.
    it is also a great threat to our biodiversity as after consuming
    polythene bags filled with vegetables and disposed food items animals
    like cows , dogs die which disturbs the food chain. Plastic bags are non
    biodegradable and can’t be reused hence it is a great threat to our
    lives and in the longer run all of us will regret the use of it
    OUR PLAN OF ACTION
    Our team bhumimitram aims to reduce the use of plastic
    and lead a a greener and cleaner today and tomorrow. We
    plan to convert the hahnemann mandi into a green space.
    We plan to do this by first surveying the people, analyzing
    the interviews, sorting out the problems and then finally
    solving the problem. This doesnt mean that our project
    will end here. It is just a step towards a more greener and
    cleaner world.
