Research Paper Summary

⮚ QR Code Based Smart Attendance System by Henan University of Technology, China

Automation of Attendance Tracking: The system replaces manual attendance methods with a QR code-based solution,
allowing students to scan their unique QR codes to mark attendance instantly. This automation reduces human error and
paperwork, making the process faster and more accurate.
Efficient Data Management and Reporting: By utilizing an SQLite database and integrating the ability to generate
attendance reports in CSV and XLS formats, the system ensures quick access to organized data, which can be used for
tracking student attendance subject-wise and generating accurate reports effortlessly.

⮚ QR Code-Based Student Attendance System By Centre for American Education Sunway University

Prevention of Attendance Cheating: The system combines QR code scanning with GPS-based location verification and
time-based restrictions to ensure that only students physically present in the classroom at the right time can mark their
attendance, effectively reducing opportunities for cheating.
Efficient and Automated Tracking: By automating attendance collection through a mobile app linked to a server module,
the system eliminates the inaccuracies and delays associated with manual methods, offering a fast, reliable, and cost-
effective solution for attendance management in educational institutions.
Research Paper Summary

⮚ A Students Attendance System Using QR Code

Time Efficiency: The QR code-based system automates attendance, allowing students to quickly scan a code displayed
at the start of each lecture, reducing the time spent on manual attendance, especially in large classes.
Enhanced Security and Accuracy: By incorporating multi-factor authentication (username/password, device ownership,
and facial recognition) and GPS location verification, the system ensures only authorized students present in the
classroom can mark their attendance, preventing cheating.

⮚ A Students Attendance System Using QR Code and GPS by Institute of Egypt

Contactless and Efficient Attendance: By using Face ID, QR code scanning, and fingerprint verification, the system
automates attendance recording, reducing time consumption and the need for physical contact, which aligns with COVID-
19 safety protocols.
Enhanced Security and Location Verification: The integration of multi-factor authentication (Face ID or fingerprint)
combined with GPS location tracking ensures that only authorized users present at the correct location can mark their
attendance, preventing fraud and unauthorized access.
Research Paper Summary

⮚ Smart Student Attendance System using QR Code of K.J Somaiya College of Engineering Mumbai, India

Automation and Time Efficiency: The system automates attendance tracking by allowing students to scan a QR code
generated for each class session, significantly reducing the time spent on manual attendance and enabling teachers to
focus more on instruction.
Secure and Accurate Attendance Management: By using unique QR codes for each session and implementing secure
authentication, the system ensures that students cannot falsely mark attendance, providing accurate and real-time
attendance data for both students and teachers.

⮚ Smart Mobile Attendance System for Employees Using QR Scanner

Automation and Convenience for Remote Workers: The system uses QR code scanning via smartphones to
streamline attendance tracking, allowing both in-office and remote employees to quickly and easily update their
attendance without the need for manual processes or dedicated machines.
Enhanced Security through Biometric Verification: By incorporating fingerprint or voice recognition, the system
ensures secure and accurate employee identification, preventing proxy attendance and ensuring reliable tracking of
attendance data.
Research Paper Summary

⮚ Randomized QR code for low-cost secured attendance system:

Enhanced Security through Randomized QR Codes: The system improves attendance security by generating
randomized QR codes every 10 seconds, which act as one-time passwords (OTPs), ensuring that employees must scan
in real-time within a local network to prevent fraudulent attendance marking.
Efficient and User-Friendly Attendance Tracking: By using a mobile app to scan QR codes and record attendance
based on MAC addresses, the system streamlines the process, reducing the time spent on manual data collection and
improving the ease of use for employees.

⮚ Development of Online Student Attendence Monitoring System (SAMS) based on QR Code :

Automation and Time Efficiency: SAMS automates the attendance process by allowing teachers to generate unique QR
codes and students to scan them, eliminating the need for manual attendance and saving significant time during class
sessions.
Secure and Real-Time Data Management: By using unique QR codes for each session and storing attendance data on a
central server, the system ensures secure and accurate tracking of attendance, allowing both students and teachers to
access real-time data easily.

Amendment

1. Two ways of taking Attendance

• In this feature there are two steps includes QR code based attendance and After closing the QR code, professor
has the privilege to view the attendance and the total count of present students. Additionally, the professor can
also make modifications to the attendance if any errors occur.

Amendment
2. Silent Sim Verification

Objective:
It automatically verifies the SIM of that registered number in student account. This feature aims to:
• Eliminate the buffer time feature which was decided to add in this project.
• Enhance security by reducing the window of opportunity for OTP theft.
• Making the verification process efficient.

Working:
• SNA uses a mobile network operator's data to automatically authenticate a user without requiring passwords,
verification information, or one-time passcodes (OTPs).

• SNA works by matching a students' phone number with the operator's data, using the GSM (Global System for
Mobile Communications) authentication system, and direct carrier connections.

• It typically takes 2–4 seconds, so the time efficiency and utilization is increase.
Amendment
3. QR Code improvement

Problem:
• Traditional QR code-based attendance systems allow students to scan a QR code displayed in the classroom to
mark their attendance. However, Students can take a photo of the QR code and share it with others, who can
then scan the QR code from the photo to falsely mark attendance without being physically present.

Solution:
• Introduce a feature that disables the functionality of scanning QR codes from the device's photo gallery and
requires real-time scanning directly within the app interface.
