immediately report it to their supervisor or the
designated safety officer. Accurate reporting helps in
investigating the root causes and preventing future
incidents.
• In summary, workmen are essential stakeholders in
industrial safety engineering. Their active
involvement, vigilance, and commitment to safety are
crucial for creating and maintaining a safe work
environment for themselves and their colleagues. An
effective safety culture relies on the active
participation of all employees, including workmen, to
identify and mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
Role of Unions in Safety
• Their role is to advocate for the welfare and rights of
workers, including their safety and well-being.
• Here are several ways in which unions contribute to
industrial safety engineering:
• Negotiating Safety Standards: Unions often
negotiate with employers to establish safety standards
and protocols that are beneficial to workers.
• This includes negotiating for the implementation of
safety regulations, the provision of safety equipment,
and the establishment of safety committees.
• Collective Bargaining: Unions engage in collective
bargaining to secure better working conditions,
including safety measures. They may negotiate for
