GREEN SKILLS

Made by Harshit Sharma

INTRODUCTION

o In this chapter we will learn about those things that are around us in the forms of environment and
our lives depend on the flora and fauna around us .

TOPICS

WE WILL COVER 10 TOPICS IN THIS PRESENTATION

1. What are Green Skills ?
2. Society and Environment
3. Natural Resources
4. Human Activities Damaging the Environment
5. Factors Responsible for Polluting the Environment
6. Climate Change
7. Natural Disasters
8. How to save the Environment

10. Conserving Natural Resources
What are
Green Skills?
 Green skills are those skills
needed to adapt processes,
services, and products to
climate change and the
environmental regulations
and requirements related to
it. They include the
knowledge, abilities, values,
and attitudes needed to live
in, develop and support a
sustainable and resource-
efficient society.
Society
and Environment
 A clean environment is essential
for the peaceful and healthy
survival of humans. Human
activities negatively affect the
environment. It includes
pollution, global warming,
extinction of species, etc.
Natural resources

 Air : Air is a natural resource that we all need to breathe and survive.

 Water : Water covers about three quarters of Earth's surface and is a necessary element for life. It necessary drinking,
bathing, cooking, and growing plants.

 Soil : Soil is the top layer of the Earth's surface where plants grow. It is a valuable natural resource for agriculture and
supports the growth of crops and trees.

 Minerals : Minerals are natural resources that are found underground. They are used to make various products, such as
metals like iron and copper for building materials.

 Forests : Forests are areas with a large number of trees. They are natural resources that provide us with many benefits.
Forests produce oxygen, clean the air, provide habitat for animals, and help regulate the climate. We also use wood
from forests for building houses and making furniture.

 Energy : An energy resource is something that can produce heat, power life, move objects, or produce electricity.
Human Activities Damaging the
Environment
Humans impact the physical environment in many ways: overpopulation,
pollution, burning fossil fuels, and deforestation. Changes like these have
triggered climate change, soil erosion, poor air quality, and undrinkable
water.
Factors that are responsible for
polluting the Environment

contaminate water bodies.
Climate change

 Causes of climate change

1. Greenhouse Gases: Human activities, such as burning fossil fuels ( Like coal, oil , and
gas) for energy, release greenhouses3 gases into the atmosphere. These are not
good for our climate

2. Deforestation: when forests are cut down, it reduces the number of trees that absorb
carbon dioxide from atmosphere. This can lead to an increase in greenhouse gases
and contribute to climate change.
Climate change

 What are the effects of climate change?

1. Rising Temperatures : As the planed warms, temperatures increase. This can lead to
head waves, melting glaciers, and rising sea levels.

2. Extreme Weather: Climate change can cause more frequent and intense weather
events such as hurricane, droughts, floods, and storms.

3. Impact on Ecosystems : Changes in temperature and rainfall patterns can disrupt

ecosystems and impact plants, animals, and their habitats.
Natural disasters

Natural disasters : A Natural disaster is

an unforeseen occurrence of an event
that causes harm to society. There are
many Natural disasters that damage the
environment and the people living in it.
Some of them are earthquakes, cyclones,
floods, Tsunami, landslides, volcanic
eruption, and avalanches.
How to save the
Environment

To save our environment, we

need to educate people.
Education is important, as it
gives people knowledge and
skills that they need to perform.
Educating people about the
environment, through the
environment and for the
environment will enlighten them
in utilising their knowledge and
skills for saving the environment
as responsible citizens.
What Can You
do to Save
Environment?
 Conserve water: Never
waste even a drop of
water. No water, no
life. No blue, no
green. Hold your grip and
stop that drip.
 Save energy : We must
replace all our old
appliances as they
consume a lot of
electricity. In other words,
we must strive to make
our homes energy
efficient.
Conserving Natural Resources

It is our duty to conserve them for the future. Conservation of biodiversity
is the most essential for the upcoming generations. It is important to
conserve natural resources to maintain the ecosystem and sustainability of
these resources for our future generation.
