Components of Policy
• General
• The Department of Management Sciences (DMS) Faculty Representation at Departmental Level Bodies Policy ensures
faculty representation in departmental decision-making and promotes fairness and transparency.
• The policy serves as a framework for faculty participation in the governance of the department and upholding academic
standards and student welfare.

• Policy Statement
• Faculty participation in departmental governance is highly valued at NUML university.
• Faculty members have the right and responsibility to participate in decision-making processes that affect the department.
• Faculty involvement ensures the protection of academic standards, faculty aspirations, and the welfare of students.

• Purpose of the Policy


• The policy outlines faculty participation and representation at the departmental level bodies.
• Faculty members are expected to fulfill their professional and institutional commitments throughout the academic year.

Components of Policy (Cont.)


• Scope
• The policy applies to the faculty members of the Department of Management Sciences (DMS).
• Faculty members have the right to participate in departmental-level decisions, policies, and procedures based on their
expertise and experience.

• Policy Description
• Faculty members are assigned responsibilities through cluster heads.
• Each specialization/subject in the DMS has a designated Cluster Head responsible for monitoring the quality, content, and
teaching methodology of courses.
• Cluster Heads report to the Head of Department (HoD) and Dean, ensuring the fulfillment of teaching objectives.

Implementation of Policy
• General SOPs
• Cluster Heads are responsible for continuous upgrading of course contents based on national and international academic
standards.
• Ensuring representation of senior faculty members in the Departmental Board of Studies (DBS) and Corporate Advisory
Board (CAB).
• Arranging departmental board of studies meetings in consultation with the HoD and Dean.
• Inviting participants from the corporate sector for quality assurance and program development.
• The Corporate Advisory Board provides strategic advice, strengthens industry-academia linkages, and fosters
collaboration.
• DBS and CAB plans should be shared with faculty members at least two weeks before the meetings.

• Policy Disbursement Procedure
• The HoD and Cluster Heads are responsible for upholding and communicating the policy and its procedures to faculty and
staff members.

• Policy Impact Assessment Procedure


• Conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the policy's outcomes and effects on stakeholders.
• Assessing both the positive and negative consequences of the policy on students, faculty, the department, and the
university.

• Approval & Signature Authority and Procedure


• Specifies the authority responsible for approving and signing off on the policy.

• Committee Members and Committee Structure


• Reviewing the implementation and effectiveness of the policy.
• Committee members include Cluster Heads, Head of Department, and Dean.
• The HoD notifies the committee members and establishes the committee structure.
