INTRODUCTION
Computer Network:
A computer network is a group of
interconnected computers that can
communicate, share resources, and
exchange data.
Importance of Networks:
Networks enable faster data exchange,
efficient resource sharing, and are
essential for communication in various
fields, from businesses to personal use.
2
TYPES OF NETWORKS
• Local Area Network(LAN):
Covers a small geographic area,
like a home, school, or office.
• Wide Area Network(WAN):
Spans large geographic areas,
such as cities or countries.
• Metropolitan Area
Network(MAN):
Covers a city or campus, larger
than a LAN but smaller than a
WAN.
• Personal Area Network (PAN):
Used for short-range personal
communication.
NETWORK
TOPOLOGIES
• Star Topology:
All nodes connect to a central hub
• Ring Topology:
Devices form a circular network
path
• Mesh Topology:
Every device connects to multiple
others.
• Bus Topology:
All devices share a single
communication line.
4
PROTOCOLS AND
COMMUNICATION
TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol):
Facilitates reliable internet communication.
HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol)
Transfers web pages over the internet.
When we access websites via browsers.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol):
Transfers files between a client and server.
HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure):
Secure version of HTTP for safe data transmission.

CONCLUSION
•Types of networks enable
communication at different scales.
•Network topologies define the layout
and reliability
•Protocols ensure smooth and secure
data transmission
