 What is GPRS
 Architecture of GPRS
 Goals of GPRS
 Service of GPRS
 Protocol support by GPRS
 Advantage of GPRS
 Disadvantage of GPRS
What is GPRS

• GPRS Stands For (General Packet Radio Service) is an extension

global system For Mobile Communication, It is Basically a packet
oriented Mobile standard for 2G and 3G Cellular Communication
• According to History GPRS was invented by Bernhard Walke and His
Student Peter Decker as first system to provide mobile internet access
Architecture of GPRS
Goals of GPRS

 Consistent IP Service
 Open Architecture
 Service innovation which is independent of architecture
Service offer by GPRS

 SMS message and broadcast

 Push to talk over cellular
 Multimedia Messaging
 Point to Point and Point to Multipoint access
Protocol support By GPRS

 Internet Protocol - The Internet Protocol (IP) is a protocol, or set of

rules, for routing and addressing packets of data so that they can travel
across networks and arrive at the correct destination.

 Point to Point Protocol - Point-to-point networks are used to connect

two locations together via a private, dedicated line
Advantage of GPRS

 Mobility – It Provide the capability to keep-up with consistent voice &

information interchange while Moving
 Cost Efficient- communication via GPRS is Much more cheaper than
GSM
 Immediacy – It allow user to Obtain connectivity when needed
regaduse to the location
 Location – Mobile use to occur data through there present area
 Easy Billing – GPRS packet transmition offer on easier to use billing
than other network system
Disadvantage Of GPRS

 Slower Speed – GPRS Data Speed are Lesser Compare to 4G and 5G

network
 Limited Bandwidth – GPRS Provide limited bandwidth during time of
high demand
 Avaibility- GPRS may not be available in all areas
 Poor indoor signal – The Connection is not avaible in a close area the
network connection would be interupted
Thank You
Everyone.
