Shopping

• On 8th October our group went for grocery shopping. We collected the
money from the whole class for grocery before this day and then on
this day we came to university early and then we all went for grocery.
We went to Imtiaz and it took us about 3 hours to do all the grocery.
Prior to this day we made a list of all the things that were required for
this project so that we knew what was required and nothing was left
out. We bought all the things that were on the list, then we came back
to university and we stored all the frozen items in the culinary lab.
Some of the things weren't available in Imtiaz so thoes were bought
separately later that day.
Dish 1- coffee loaf
• Ingredients
cake rusk, milk, sugar, coffee powder, coco powder and chocolate chips,
careem
• Procedure
Add sugar in milk and boil it at low flame then add the coco powder and
coffee powder in it . Mix it well then take a cake rusk and dib it in this
condense milk make one layer of dibed cake rusk then put the careem
on it and spread it well and do this process one more time. and then
make a topping on it with chocolate chips.
Dish 2-Falafel
• Ingredients:
• Chickpeas, onions, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, salt, pepper, flour, and baking
powder.
• Procedure:
• 1. Soak chickpeas overnight, then blend with garlic, onion, parsley, and spices.
• 2. Form the mixture into small balls and fry them until golden brown.
• 3. Serve with tahini sauce or ketchup.
Result & Observations:
The falafel came out crispy on the outside with a soft, flavorful interior. Consistency and
seasoning were key factors, and the end product was well-balanced in texture and taste.
Dish 3: Chicken Cordon Bleu
• Ingredients:
• Chicken breasts, ham or smoked mortadella slices, cheese, flour, eggs, breadcrumbs, salt,
and pepper.
• Procedure:
1. Pound the chicken breasts until thin, season, and layer with ham and cheese and season
with black Pepper and salt.
2. Roll up each chicken breast and secure with toothpicks.
3. Dredge in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
4. 4. fry until the chicken is golden and fully cooked.
Result & Observations:
The chicken cordon bleu was a success, with a crispy coating and a melted cheese center. A
toothpick helped secure the rolls, but practice may improve the technique for sealing.
Conclusion
Each dish presented its unique challenges and learning
experiences. Preparing a coffee loaf taught us the importance of
balancing flavors of coffee. Falafel introduced us to the texture
challenges and deep frying techniques in Middle Eastern cuisine.
Chicken cordon bleu allowed us to practice assembling a
complex entrée and using multiple cooking methods.
Through this project, we developed a better understanding of the
attention to detail, patience, and techniques that each dish
requires. Overall, this project was an enriching experience in
exploring diverse culinary traditions and skills.
