than later. The traffic situation in
Lahore is a critical concern,
particularly as the city
experiences rapid growth. Over
the past two decades, Lahore’s
population has more than

residents. It stands as one of
There are many factors that may

that is predicted to take place in
20 years. The number of
registered vehicles in Punjab has
surged from 5 million in 2007 to
16.7 million in 2017. This influx of
vehicles surpasses population
growth. Also Lahore lacks
dedicated lanes for them on
major city roads.
There are many ways that the use of IT, GIS,
Maps, Public Transport and urban planning can
make Lahore ready for the future. They convey
complex spatial information through visual
maps and graphics, making it easier for
planners to communicate and collaborate
effectively. They play a crucial role in
understanding the spatial form of cities. They
help residents conceive of places, analyze
plans, model social and environmental
impacts. They enable smart city initiatives,
including real-time data collection, monitoring,
and analysis. Smart traffic management, waste

contribute to urban resilience and efficiency.
In summary integrating IT, GIS, Maps,
Public Transport, and urban planning
empowers Lahore to plan for sustainable
growth, enhance mobility, and create an
inclusive, resilient urban environment
