Dr. Hans Selye

Developed a model to explain bodily response

Called General Adaptation Syndrome (GAS)

Our hormonal system runs

and alerts the body to focus
on the stressful event.
If stress continues to
affect our balance, we
produce
adrenaline which
causes our hearts to
beat faster and
mobilize our body to
do something
More blood are diverted to the brain and muscles
that push us to think on our feet, fight or run away.
Fight or Flight Reactions

1 - The Alarm Phase

 Recognize the STRESSOR
(a problem, a difficulty or a
threat) stirring reactions in
our body
 Hormones act up producing
energy allowing us to handle
stressful situation
