Introduction
Visually impaired individuals face challenges using internet-based technology due to the reliance on
visual perception. Accessing the internet requires the ability to read on-screen text, making it
inaccessible for many. This system addresses these barriers by integrating three key technologies:
Speech-to-Text (STT) for converting spoken input into text, and Text-to-Speech (TTS) for reading out
incoming emails, enabling visually impaired users to interact with emails through voice commands.
Problem Statement
Design and develop a voice based email system tailored to the needs of physically
handicapped and visually impaired individuals.
To the main problem of to implement this system is to help blind people to handle
email system easily and help to read incoming mail and provide login security.
A voice email system is a fully computerized system that allows users to share and
communicate messages without typing.
Our solution
We propose a voice-controlled email system that allows blind
users to:
• Compose, Read, and Send Emails: Completely hands-free.
• Manage Inbox: Navigate, delete, and respond to emails through voice
commands.
• Speech Output: Receive spoken feedback for actions like new email
notifications or reading messages aloud.
Motivation
We use Face detection and recognisaction using Haar cascade Algorithm After we use NLP
algorithm for Voice based E-mail system architecture that can be used by a Blind person to
access E-mails easily and efficiently.
The contribution made by this research has enabled the Blind people to send and receive
voice based eMail messages in their native language with the help of a computer
A Voice-based Email System can have a significant impact on physically handicapped
individuals. By providing a hand-free and accessible way to interact with emails, it can
empower them to independently manage their communication.
activities that are important to them.
Objectives
This Python-based project is designed to create a voice-controlled email system
for the visually impaired and physically handicapped. The application enables
users to read, send, and manage emails independently using Interactive Voice
Response (IVR). Through voice commands, the system guides users to perform
various tasks, allowing full control of their email accounts without needing visual
assistance.
Literature Survey
1. Voice-Based Accessibility Technologies:
Research shows that voice-guided interfaces significantly improve
access for visually impaired users. Popular tools like screen readers
(e.g., NVDA, JAWS) highlight the impact of speech recognition in
navigating digital content.
2. Email Systems for the Blind:
Simplified email systems using audio commands have been explored
to help visually impaired users send, receive, and manage emails more
efficiently. Challenges include ensuring clear text-to-speech (TTS)
output and intuitive navigation.
Literature Survey
3. Natural Language Processing (NLP):
NLP plays a crucial role in interpreting voice commands. Studies focus
on improving the accuracy of speech recognition to handle complex
actions like attachments and email organization.
4. Usability Challenges:
Usability issues like voice recognition accuracy, especially with accents,
and the learning curve for blind users are key focus areas. Research
recommends systems that provide multimodal feedback (audio and
tactile) for smoother interaction.
Algorithm
NLP:- Natural Language Processing
NLP algorithms are typically based on machine learning algorithms. Instead of hand-coding
large sets of rules, NLP can rely on machine learning to automatically learn these rules by
analyzing a set of example sand making a statistical inference .
Natural Language Processing (NLP) Natural language processing strives to build machines that
understand and respond to text or voice data and respond with text or speech of their own.
Haar Cascade
The first real-time face detector also used the Haar classifiers, which we are introducing here.
Finding objects in pictures and videos is done by a machine learning programme known as a
Haar classifier or a Haar cascade classifier.
It depends based upon the prediction. The classifier decides for indication of an object that was
found positive or moved to the next region, i.e., negative.
System Architecture
Future Scope
There can be a wide scope of the system with its functionalities.
It can consist of options for reading deleted and spam emails.
The system will be more in demand if it will be accessible in all the regional languages.
It will promote interaction at a higher level as it will require nothing special to use the system.
It can be designed in more advanced ways by adding options of voice call and short messaging
services (SMS).

Independent Email Access
Voice-Controlled Communication
Inclusive Technology
Conclusion
Our project aims to provide an accessible way for blind and physically
challenged individuals to manage emails through voice interaction. Using
Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) technologies, the system
allows users to send and receive emails without needing to read, write, or
type. Instead of typing, users rely on IVR voice prompts and simple mouse
clicks to navigate. The system is efficient, easy to use, and fully voice-
driven, ensuring seamless communication for visually impaired individuals.
