Addition of decimals is
just like addition of whole
numbers. There is just one
extra step you have to do
before adding the digits.
This is to align the
decimal points.
Steps in addition of decimals:

Write an equivalent
fraction with a denominator

To write percent as a fraction:

WRITING DECIMALS AS PERCENTS
Method 1:
To change decimal
to percent, multiply the decimal
number by 100, then write the
percent sign ( % ).
Method 2:
To change decimal
to percent, move the decimal
EXAMPLE ( METHOD 1)

A. Write 0.35 as a percent


0.35= 0.35 x 100 = 35%
B. Write 1.25 as a percent
1.25 = 1.25 x 100 = 125%
C. Write 2.63 as a percent
2.63= 2..63 x 100 = 263%
EXAMPLE ( METHOD 2)

A. 0.26= 0.26 = 26%

B. 0.534= 0.534= 53.4%

C. 5.7 = 5.70 = 570%


WRITING PERCENTS AS DECIMALS
To write a percent as a decimals:
1. Write as a fraction with the
denominator of 100
2. Dividing a number by 100
means moving the
decimal point two places to
the left.
