Chapter.2 Analyzing Information
• The ability to analyze information has been
called one life’s most vital skills because it enables you to examine and interpret your business information in such a way that you can reach better conclusions, make better decisions and offer good recommendations. Six basic steps have been identified as useful guides to analyzing information. In many cases information analysis is preceded by information gathering. Analyzing Information • Step1: Reviewing the preliminary question/s • In the context of a business environment, you should ask yourself this main question: What decisions will be made based on the information at hand? What questions was this information meant to answer? If there are new results that crops up which were unexpected then you need to take note of them. • Step2: Organizing the acquired information • There are a variety of techniques that can be used to organize information in order to analyse it however the general procedure that can be used includes: • • Assembling all the important information you have gathered • • Sorting the information by grouping similar parts together. • • Identify which information needs to be analysed, which one is partly analysed and which one has already been analyzed.
