This proposal outlines a strategic plan to achieve zero hunger in northern Nigeria by
harnessing sustainable agricultural practices. Leveraging modern farming techniques,
education, and community engagement, the proposal seeks to create a resilient food
supply chain that enhances local food security, provides job opportunities, and addresses
nutritional deficiencies among vulnerable populations.
DEFINITION: Despite agriculture being a significant part of Nigeria’s economy, northern
Nigeria faces challenges like food insecurity, malnutrition, and poverty, leading to high
hunger rates. Factors such as poor infrastructure, limited access to modern farming inputs,
outdated farming practices, and climate-related issues hinder productivity, resulting in food
scarcity and increased hunger. This proposal aims to address these core issues, providing a
pathway to improve food availability, access, and quality across the region.
INNOVATIVENESS OF THE PROPOSED
IDEA
Putting into consideration, combined traditional farming wisdom with modern
agricultural technologies and techniques, making farming more productive and
sustainable. Key innovations includes.
Precision Farming Techniques: Using data-driven insights, sensors, and
climate data to optimize water usage, soil quality, and crop yield.
Farmer Cooperatives: Establishing cooperatives that give small farmers
access to shared resources, equipment, and bargaining power.
• Digital Learning Platforms: Providing training in modern farming practices
through mobile-friendly digital platforms, accessible even in remote areas.
