Cloud Native AI

Introduction,
Challenges, and
Path Forward

Prepared by Muhammad Hussain Arabi

What is AI
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) is like teaching computers to think
and learn in ways similar to humans.

• It's about creating programs and systems that can

understand, reason, and make decisions on their own,
without being explicitly programmed for every task.

• AI enables machines to perceive their environment, process

information, and take actions to achieve specific goals, just
like how humans do, but using algorithms and data instead of
biological processes.
Introduction to Cloud Native AI
• Cloud Native AI represents a transformative approach to AI
development and deployment, harnessing the power of
cloud computing to drive innovation, agility, and cost
efficiency.

• By optimizing AI for cloud environments, organizations can

unlock new opportunities, accelerate digital transformation,
and deliver impactful AI solutions to meet the demands of
today's dynamic business landscape.
Difference between AI and Cloud Native
AI
• AI (Artificial Intelligence): AI refers to the science of making
machines think and act like humans, enabling them to perform tasks
that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, problem-
solving, and decision-making. Traditional AI focuses on the development
of intelligent systems that can mimic human cognitive functions.

• Cloud-Native AI: Cloud-Native AI, on the other hand, combines AI

technology with cloud-native infrastructure, leveraging cloud computing
principles like containers, microservices, and orchestrators to build and
deploy AI applications at scale. Cloud-Native AI emphasizes the use of
modular, resilient environments to develop and run AI workloads
efficiently in cloud environments to optimize the development,
deployment, and scalability of AI applications.
Benefits of implementing Cloud Native
AI
• Cloud Native AI matters because it leverages the strengths of both AI and cloud computing to unlock new possibilities and
drive innovation:

• Scalability and Flexibility: Cloud environments provide the necessary infrastructure and resources to scale AI applications
seamlessly. With elastic computing capabilities, organizations can handle varying workloads and accommodate growing
data volumes without upfront investments in hardware.
• Agility and Speed: Cloud-native AI empowers teams to iterate quickly and experiment with new AI models and algorithms.
By leveraging cloud services for AI development, organizations can reduce time-to-market and respond rapidly to changing
business requirements.
• Cost Efficiency: Cloud computing offers pay-as-you-go pricing models, allowing organizations to optimize costs by
provisioning resources based on actual usage. Cloud Native AI enables cost-effective AI deployments by minimizing idle
resources and optimizing computing resources for specific AI workloads.
• Innovation and Collaboration: Cloud environments foster collaboration and innovation by providing access to a wide range
of AI tools, frameworks, and services. By leveraging cloud-native AI platforms, organizations can accelerate innovation
cycles, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and drive collective intelligence.
• Reliability and Resilience: Cloud providers offer robust infrastructure and built-in redundancy to ensure high availability
and fault tolerance. Cloud Native AI applications benefit from these reliability features, enabling organizations to deliver
consistent and dependable AI services to end-users.
