Power Systems Pvt. Ltd.
Vision

To be at the forefront of the evolution to a renewable energy future,

offering a range of unique Power Backup Solutions and Solar Products.

Product Range

Home UPS, Inverters, Solar Power Conditioning Units, Solar Charge

Controllers, Solar Inverters, Solar Panels, Batteries, Off-Grid Solutions,
Grid Tie Inverters, and Customized Solar Solutions.

Global Presence

Smarten has established a footprint across India and in Nepal,

Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Dubai, Nigeria, Benin, Uganda, and South
Africa.
Introduction: Methods of PCB
Testing

1 In-Circuit Testing (ICT)

A robust method using a "bed of nails" probe setup to check the

integrity of connections and soldering, providing coverage for about
85-90% of the PCB.

2 Flying Probe Testing

A non-powered test that checks for electrical faults, such as opens,

shorts, and incorrect resistance, providing an economical alternative to
ICT.

3 Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)

Using cameras, AOI identifies defects early in production, allowing

timely adjustments to prevent larger-scale issues.

4 Burn-In Testing

Designed to detect early component failures, this method subjects

PCBs to maximum load for extended periods to verify reliability under
stress.
Component Used For Testing

of a scale. weight is applied.
Trouble Shoot And Fixing PCB
Clean the PCB

Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the affected part of the PCB.

Take off the Damaged Pad

Use an Exacto knife to gently peel off the damaged, pre-existing pad.

Prepare The Conductor

With proper solder alloy in hand, prepare the conductor area on the spot where the replacement conductor will be affixed.

Solder the New Pad/Trace to the Old Conductor

Using Kapton™ tape, put the new conductor into place.

Common Issues With PCB's
Plating Gaps Gaps in the copper plating of
plated thru-holes, caused by air
bubbles or contaminants during
the deposition process.

Raw-Cut Copper At The Edge Exposed copper at the edge of

the PCB, susceptible to corrosion
and potentially causing shorts.

Slivers Thin slivers of solder mask or

copper that can cause plating
exposure or unintended
connections.
Incomplete Solder Mask Between PadsMissing or incomplete solder
mask between pads, leaving
copper exposed and potentially
creating unintended contact
between pins.
Conclusions
The internship at Smarten Power Systems Pvt. Ltd. provided valuable hands-on experience in PCB
testing and product analysis, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical
applications. The training covered various testing methods, including In-Circuit Testing (ICT), Flying
Probe Testing, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), Burn-In Testing, and X-Ray Inspection (AXI),
providing a comprehensive understanding of quality assurance in power electronics.

This internship has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to the
electronics and power sector confidently.
