Web 2.0
◦Web 2.0 refers to websites that emphasize user-generated
content, ease of use, participatory culture and interoperability
for end users. The term was coined by Darcy DilNucci in 1999
and later popularized by Tim O'Reilly and Dale Dougherty at
the first Web 2.0 Conference in late 2004.

◦ Web 2.0 is a term that describes the changing trends in the

use of World Wide Web technology and Web design that aim to
enhance creativity, secure information sharing, increase
collaboration, and improve the functionality of the Web as we
know it (Web 1.0).

Advantages of Web 2.0
◦ Available at any time, any place.
◦ Variety of media.
◦ Ease of usage.
◦ Learners can actively be involved in knowledge building.
◦ Can create dynamic learning communities.
◦ Everybody is the author and the editor, every edit that has been made
can be tracked.
◦ User-friendly.
◦ Updates in the wiki are immediate and it offers more sources for
researchers.
◦ It provides real-time discussion.
Disadvantages of Web 2.0

◦Information overload. Too much information is daily posted by

many people with different thoughts. This creates confusion
for the readers and the quality of the content is not reliable.
◦Freedom to post views and comments provides good
opportunities for competitors and rivals to post negative
comments about other companies.
◦Too many fake ids and spammers.
◦Forgeries and hackers commit crimes.
Difference Between Web 2.0 and
Web 3.0
◦ Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 refer to successive iterations of the web, compared with the
original Web 1.0 of the 1990s and early 2000s. Web 2.0 is the current version of the
internet (a term often used interchangeably with the web) with which we are all
familiar, while Web 3.0 represents its next phase.
◦ Web 3.0 represents the next iteration or phase of the evolution of the web/internet and
potentially could be as disruptive and represent as big a paradigm shift as Web 2.0
did. Web 3.0 is built upon the core concepts of decentralization, openness, and greater
user utility.
◦ Web 2.0 refers to a paradigm shift in how the internet is used. Over the past 15 to 20 years,
the bland webpages of Web 1.0 have been completely replaced by Web 2.0’s interactivity,
social connectivity, and user-generated content. Web 2.0 makes it possible for user-
generated content to be viewed by millions of people around the world virtually in an
instant; this unparalleled reach has led to an explosion of this type of content in recent
years.
Web 3.0

◦Web 3.0, also known as the third-generation internet, is the

next evolution of the World Wide Web. It provides a data-
driven Semantic Web employing a machine-based
understanding of data with the objective of developing a more
intelligent and connected web experience for users.

◦ Wolfram Alpha and Apple's Siri are two examples of web

3.0 applications. Siri uses speech recognition techniques and
artificial intelligence to search and deliver results.

Advantages of Web 3.0
◦Ownership of Information or Data: The end-users will
regain the complete ownership and control of their
data and have the security of encryption.
◦Access to Information.
◦Elimination of the Central Point of Control.
◦The Permission less Block chain.
◦Uninterrupted Service.
Disadvantages of Web 3.0
◦Web 3.0 will be inaccessible to less advanced
gadgets.
◦Web 1.0 sites will seem much older.
◦Regulating is difficult. ...
◦Concerns about ownership. ...
◦It's difficult for newbies to grasp.
◦It is not yet fully prepared by the technology.
Conclusion
◦ Web 2.0 technology is social software. It has emerged into a digital-
social milieu because it suits the modes of interaction favoured by
the many that choose to conduct relationships on the Internet.
These relationships vary greatly in type, content, intimacy and
seriousness, but they are fundamentally social. Having evolved in
‘Userland’, the technology is easy, lightweight and free. The natural
robustness that this technology has had to accumulate to withstand
the nonsense, trivia, deviance and malice of the open Internet
stands in laconic hipster contrast to the stolid belt-and-braces
methods of much corporate information management.
