representation of a process or
workflow, showing the steps in a
sequence using various symbols.

The symbols shown below are the commonly used symbols in flowcharts:
1. Oval. It indicates both the beginning point and the ending point of a process.

2. Rectangle. It represents an individual task or action in the process.

3. Diamond. A diamond shows a decision point such as yes or no.

4. Arrows. It is use to guide the viewer on the direction of the process
which means that it emphasizes the next step of the process.

5. Input/Output (Input/Output): Shows input (data entry) or output

6. Document. It is the data that can be read by people such as printed


output.
