    SOCIAL FACTORS THAT AFFECT CURRICULUM DECISIONS

    Do all social groups influence curriculum?.


    School is found in society. It is influenced by
    society and it influences society.
    WHAT ARE SCHOOLS FOR ?
    Education is value based activity engaging
    individuals in experiencing or accepting what is
    valued in society.
    The Primary task of Education is the
    transmission of culture (Values, Beliefs and norms
    of society from one generation to the other).

    • Schools were viewed as social agencies charged with


    preserving culture, preparing youth for tomorrow and
    perpetuating the governmental and social structures
    of the nation (Parknison 1971).
    • 1. NATIONAL GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION
    Constitution and Education act. This is the level of
    society where laws are made and directly affect
    student and Instructional curricular. This determine
     1. Curriculum content.

    a. Allocate funds. For FPE, FDS, Funds for physically challenged and
    special groups.
    b. Determine entry grade for marginalized groups.
    c. Suggest age of entry,

    e. Resources to be used.
    f. Content to be taught.
    g. Kind of teachers to teach and how they are certified.

    of schools and their Curricular.
    a. On matters of rights of learners in
    1.Entry age to school.
    2. Form and kind of discipline.
    3. Issues to be included in the curriculum
    4. Language to be used in school.
    5. Change of names
    6. Is uniform required The courts intepret the laws and
    acts and their application.

    Individuals decisions that affect the whole state.

    should be the school leader.

    Education.
