RFID Token Based Appointment Calling System

INTRODUCTION

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) uses radio waves to identify and track tags on
objects or living beings. It consists of a reader and a tag, enabling quick identification—often
in under a second—through wireless communication. This technology is efficient for
uniquely identifying products or individuals .
RELEVANCE

An RFID system provides security to the daily operations of the school staff as well as to the students. As
well as allowing them to rapidly improve efficiency and reduce cost by automating processes and
improving utilisation of assets and quality. And improved inventory accuracy, increased efficiency,
reduced labor costs, and enhanced security.
PROBLEM STATEMENT

 Token-based appointment calling systems are widely used by doctors, canteens,

servicing/repair and similar applications. Manual token calling systems have the
following issues:
 There may be mistakes in calling tokens by order of arrival
 There may be favouring/discrimination by the token caller
 A dedicated person is always needed to keep it operational
 So we designed a fully automated token management system to address all of these

issues. The system supports a fully automatic token calling system that is error-free.
 When a customer receives a token, he or she must scan it on the system. The previously

called token number is then removed from the list.

 As a result, the system provides a fully functional automatic token calling system that

employs RFID.
 If the buzzer is turned off, the next token number will not beep. When activated, the

buzzer will beep at the volume set by the user.

Proposed work:

 Scope

Well we here design a fully automated token management system that solves all these
issues. The system allows for fully automatic token calling system that can operate
without any errors.

The system makes use of an Atmega 328 microcontroller along with an RFID reader for
sensing REID token numbers, a keypad for settings, an LED Display and buzzer for notifying
and displaying token number along with basic electronics components and PCB board to
develop the system.

CONCLUSION

 The system includes an RFID reader that scans for RFID tags. The number
associated with the tag is stored in the controller list as soon as the user scans a
Token.
 New entries are added at the bottom of the list. For token calling, list tokens are
now treated as FIFO.
 The first token to be called is the one that was inserted into the system.
 The doctor/receptionist/operator must press a keypad button to indicate that the
current token session has ended, and then the next token number must be called.
