Demo 1
2. The game will be played against your opponent. You must stay focused and alert
with your hearing.
3. If I say “clap,” you should clap. If I say “boom,” tap the table or armrest. If I say
“pen,” grab the pen as fast as you can.
4. The person who grabs the pen can sit down, and those who do not will find another
partner.
5. The game will continue until there is only one person remaining.

Activity 1: Evolution Puzzle Race
In this activity, divide the class into small groups and provide each
group with a set of puzzle pieces, each representing key
evolutionary events. The task for each group is to place their
pieces in the correct order. Once all groups have completed their
puzzle, review the final timeline with the class, explaining each
event and correcting any mistakes.
Activity 2: Characteristics of Life
In this activity, the class will be divided into 5 groups. Each group
should have a representative to collect the materials. They must
finish the activities within 2 minutes, and choose one group to
present their work.
.
Lesson 1: The
Historical
Development of
Concept of Life
At the end of the lesson, the students can:
1. Identify the sequence of events at the
history of life on Earth.
STROMATOLITES
are layered rock formations created by the activity of
cyanobacteria. These bacteria trap sediment and form these
distinctive, often dome-shaped structures.
CYANOBACTERIA
Tiny, single-celled organisms that can
make their own food using sunlight
(photosynthesis).
TRILOBITES/
CEPHALOPODS
The Mesozoic Era is often called
the "Age of Reptiles" because
dinosaurs ruled the Earth during
this time!
Homo erectus was an early
human species that lived
from about 1.8 million to
117,000 years ago. They
were known for their upright
walking, larger brains, and
use of tools, including fire.
MAJOR PERIODS
IN EARTH
HISTORY
CAMBRIAN
Explosion of marine life
ex: Trilobites and Cephalopods
DEVONIAN
characterized by the rise of fish,
the colonization of land by plants
and animals, and the formation
of vast coral reefs.
CARBONIFEROUS
The Carboniferous Period was a
time of lush forests, giant
insects, and the first reptiles!
PERMIAN
massive extinction event wiped out over 90% of
marine species and 70% of terrestrial species. This
was the largest mass extinction in Earth's history
and is often called the "Great Dying."
TRIASSIC&JURASSIC
• Recovery and Rise of Dinosaurs.
• The Jurassic saw the rise of iconic
dinosaurs like Brachiosaurus,
Stegosaurus, and Allosaurus.
CRETACIOUS
Cretaceous saw the rise of flowering plants, the
dominance of giant dinosaurs, and the famous
extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs.
PALEOGENE/NEOGENE
The Paleogene and Neogene periods were
crucial for shaping the world we know today.
They witnessed the rise of mammals and
birds, the evolution of our ancestors.
QUATERNARY
Human evolution and the Ice Ages.
Identifying how life began on Earth is crucial for
understanding the origins of biology, evolution, and
the conditions necessary for life. This knowledge helps
scientists trace the steps from simple molecules to
complex organisms, giving insights into the processes
that allow life to emerge and adapt. It also aids in
exploring possibilities for life beyond Earth by
identifying key environmental and chemical
requirements, which guides the search for
extraterrestrial life. Moreover, it deepens our
understanding of our place in the universe, connecting
humanity to the larger history of life on our planet.
Activity 3: Tracing the Evolution of Life on
Earth
In this activity, the students will be divided into 5 groups. They
must create a timeline of the major periods in Earth's history,
arranging them in chronological order. For each period, they must
provide one or more key events. This activity is intended to last 2
minutes.

-ecosystems in the study of life show the connections among
living things and how they interact with each other and with their
environment.
