Prepositions (in – on – at)
SUPERLATIVE
• Kıyaslamayı gerektirmeyecek ‘’en’’lerden bahsederiz.
• En güzel araba, en güzel yiyecek gibi ifadeler kullanacağız.

THE ADJECTIVE + EST OBJECT


THE TALLEST BOY
• I am tall. (Ben uzunum.)
• I am taller than you. (Ben senden uzunum.)
• I am the tallest. (Ben en uzunum.)

• She is cute. (O tatlıdır.)


• She is cuter than me. (O benden daha tatlıdır.)

RULE 1)
• If an adjective ends with ‘’e’’, you should add ‘’st’’ instead of ‘’est.’’
• She is the cutest. ( O en tatlısıdır.)
• Adana is hot.
• Adana is hotter than Mersin.

• RULE 2
• If an adjective ends with one syllable and one consonant, the last letter
doubles. And then you can add ‘’est’’.
• Adana is the hottest city in Turkey.
Shy – (utangaç)

She is shy.
She is shier than me.

RULE 3
If an adjective ends with ‘’y’’, ‘’y’’ drops and you add ‘’iest’’.
She is the shiest girl in the class.
• Hecesi 3 ve 3ten fazla olan sıfatlarda kıyaslama yaparken
• THE MOST + ADJECTIVE kullanılır.

• The iPhone is the most expensive smartphone in the world.


• Rihanna is the most beautiful woman in the world.
İngilizcede düzensiz sıfatlarımız vardır.
Comparative ya da superlative cümlelerinde kullanmak istersek kelimeler
değişmek zorunda kalır.

• -Sen sınıftaki en akıllı kızsın.


• You are the smartest girl in the class.
• -Sen bu dünyadaki en iyi insansın.
• You are the best person in the world.
• Kahve en lezzetli içecektir. - delicious = lezzetli
• - drink / beverage = içecek

• Coffee is the most delicious beverage. (bevırıç)

• Ben dünyanın en şanslı adamıyım. -lucky (şanslı)

• I am the luckiest man in the world.


• SORULARI YAPARKEN DİKKAT ETMEN GEREKENLER

• İlk önce cümle senden kıyaslama mı yapmanı istiyor yoksa bir şeyin
‘’en’’liğinden mi bahsediliyor buna karar ver.
• Kararı verdin ve bu bir kıyaslama cümlesi dediysen;

• SIFAT UZUN MU KISA MI ONA BAKMALISIN.


• Uzun ise ‘’MORE + ADJECTIVE’’
• Kısa ise sadece sıfata ‘’er’’ + ‘’than’’ eklemelisin.

• AYNI ŞEY SUPERLATIVE İÇİNDE GEÇERLİ.


• Uzun ise the most + adjective
• Kısa ise the + sıfat+EST
• I like small cities more than big cities.
• İstanbul – Konya

• Daha gürültülü (noisy)


• İstanbul is noisier than Konya.
• Daha sakin (calm)
• Konya is calmer than İstanbul.
• Daha sıcak(hot)
• Konya is hotter than İstanbul.
• Daha pahalı(expensive)
• İstanbul is more expensive than Konya.
• En büyük şehirdir (big)
• İstanbul is the biggest city.
• Konya en sakin şehirdir (calm)

• Saati söylemenin iki yolu vardır. İlk yolu en basit ve en yaygın olanıdır.
• BİRİNCİ YOL
• 20.05 = It is twenty-five.
• 08.36: It is eight thirty-six.
• 17.30: It is fifteen-thirty.

• Bu şekilde saati okumak için dümdüz sayıları söylemek yeterlidir.


• İKİNCİ YOL:
• -Bu şekilde saatleri okumak istediğimizde DAİMA DAİMA VE DAİMA
• İlk olarak DAKİKA(minute), ardından SAAT(hours) söylenir.
• PAST: GEÇE
• TO: KALA
• QUARTER: ÇEYREK
• HALF: YARIM

• 17.12 = It is twelve past fifteen/five.


• 17.15 = It is quarter past five/fifteen.
• 17.30 = It is half past five/fifteen.
• 17.45 = It is quarter to SIX.
• 18.00 = It is 6 o’clock.
• A.m = After midnight (gece yarısı sonrası)
• Gece yarısı 12’den öğlen 12ye kadar olan süreçte a.m kullanılır.
• P.m
• Öğlen 12den gece 12ye kadar olan süreçte ise p.m kullanılır.

• I wake up at 7 a.m
• I wake up at 7 o’clock.

• 11.00 = It is eleven o’clock.
• 11.07 = It is eleven – seven.
= It is seven past eleven.
• 15.15 = It is quarter past three.
19.30 = It is half past seven.
20.45 = It is quarter to nine.
PREPOSITIONS OF TIME

• AT
- We usually use ‘’at’’ with CLOCK TIMES and MEAL TIMES.

- I get up at 6.30 a.m


- - She doesn’t like to leave the office at lunchtime.
at breakfast.
- at dinner
• 2) We also use ‘’at’’ with some specific phrases such as;
• At the weekend (hafta sonu)
• AT night (gece)
• 3) We use ‘’at’’ with some HOLIDAYS (TATİLLERDE) that last for several
days. (Birkaç süren bayramlarda kullanırız.)

• at Christmas
• at Ramadan
• IN

• We usually use ‘’in’’ with;


• MONTHS (AYLAR) - We are in JANUARY.
• YEARS(YILLAR) - We are in 2024.
• SEASONS (MEVSİMLER) –We are in winter.
• DECADES (10YILLAR) - In early 80s (80lerin başı)
• CENTURIES(YÜZYILLAR) - In 21st century
• PERIODS OF THE DAY (GÜNÜN PERİYOTLARINDA) – In the morning
• -In the afternoon
• -In the evening
• ON

• We use on with DAYS and DATES.

• I will go out on Monday.
