Lesson 1.

2 – Illustrates an
arithmetic sequence
SSP_M10AL-Ia-2
Definition

An Arithmetic Sequence (AS) is a sequence

of numbers in which each term is obtained
by adding a constant called common
difference.

The common difference (d) can be

determined by subtracting any two
consecutive terms in a sequence.
Illustrative Example:
Tell whether the sequence is an arithmetic
sequence or not. For each AS, find the
common difference.

Challenge
Illustrative Example:

1. If are terms of an AS, find x.

2. If are terms of an AS, find m.
3. If a, b, c and x, y, z are two AS,
prove that (a+x), (b+y) and (c+z) is
an AS.
