Semantics is the study of meaning
in language, dealing with how
words, phrases, sentences, and
texts convey meaning.

 Semantics seeks to understand


how language users interpret
meaning in various contexts and
how these meanings can be
structured and represented.

the meaning of a sentence.
 It explores how syntax affects

change interpretations, and how
modifiers and quantifiers impact
meaning.
2. SENTENCE MEANING
(COMPOSITIONAL
 It is the study of conditions under
which statement can be
considered true or false.
 It involves analyzing how the truth
value of a sentence depends on
the meanings of its parts and the
way they are put together.

3. TRUTH-CONDITIONS
 Sense refers to the inherent
meaning of a word or phrase,
including the concept it
expresses.
 Reference is about the actual
object or entity in the real world
that a word or phrase points to.
