Abstract:
Gait is the locomotion attained through the movement of limbs and gait analysis examines
the patterns (normal/abnormal) depending on the gait cycle. The project contributes to the
development of various applications in the medical, security, sports, and fitness domains to
improve the overall outcome. Wearable pressure sensors provide a convenient, efficient,
and inexpensive way to collect data which can be used for future retrieval. This project
posses a considerable application in the field of rehabilitation engineering.
Keywords: Gait Cycle, Rehabilitation, Pressure
sensors.
OBJECTIVE:
The primary aim of the project is to help professionals to analyse the extent of
abnormalities and expected recovery periods of a patients with altered gait cycles
based on the pressure exerted by foot.
PROPOSED
WORK:
This project helps in diagnosis of altered gait patterns of a
patient by using flexiforce pressure sensor which is
embedded over shoes that can be conveniently worn by
the patient. The signal acquisition can be done by
analysing the change in resistance based on foot grips
which in turn provide the data of variation in
conductance. This can be framed as a waveform using
aurdino software. The obtained waveform can be
2
processed further for analysis purpose.
