i. Meaning:
It is a 2-D or 3-D computer-aided drafting software application used in
architecture, Construction, and Manufacturing to assist in preparing
Blueprints and other engineering plans. Professionals who use AutoCAD
are often referred to as drafters.

AUTOCAD is one of the recommended design software applications


because it provides Professionals in these niches with unique drafting
tools that can be used to bring their engineering ideas to life with the
accuracy they require and deserve.
ii. Advantages of AutoCAD
 AutoCAD software is the most comprehensive mechanical product
design and drafting software that caters to various needs of
mechanical engineering companies, it comes with a complete set of
powerful drafting and detailing tools for drafting professionals
 AutoCAD software saves a huge time, saving time is equal to earning
more income by more output.it is simple enough with a real user-
friendly interface, it is easy to grasp and it can provide you the basic
exposure it is very beneficial in designing 3D. It reduces the time for
the new designs and the products can be created more quickly.
 AutoCAD software is helpful
 AutoCAD software is incorporated for international drafting
standards, and compliance with industry standards hence improving
internal communication and resulting in reliable production outputs.
 AutoCAD software offers a professional look, which means it has
flexibility in design changes.
 It reduces the manufacturing time, like in documentation for
multiple users
 It offers the quality of the design

 Needs a skills and judgement in preparing drawings

of computer memory

AUTOCAD is suitable for accurate and preferred software drawing of
engineering design
The drawings of layout plans, machine parts and assembly drawings are
possible in Auto-CAD WHICH CAN BE 2D or 3D.

The Auto-CAD can be used by all engineering field, designers and


painters

Lines, Curves, text are filling point are essential partd used for
preparation of any drawings on the CAD screen.
Autocad package utilize four areas on screen
I. Drawing area
II. Command area
III. Menu area
IV. Tool boxes
DRAWING AREA: used to provide space to prepare
drawings
COMMAND AREA: Use to entry of various commands
for preparing the drawings
MENU AREA: consist of various dialog boxes which can
be utilized for preparing the drawings
TOOL BOXES: allow selection of various options for the
drawings
GET STARTED WITH AUTOCAD 2016 OR ANY OTHER VERSION

• Click on the AutoCAD 2016 Icon on the Desktop and the


following window will be displayed
• Click the Large Start Drawing button in the Get Started section of the
start tab (As marked by the red colored rectangle)
• Before you can use AutoCAD, you will need to familiarize yourself
thoroughly will its graphical user interface (GUI). The following figure
shows the AutoCAD user interface
