from a Radiology Information System (RIS).
– This feature follows the DICOM Modality
Worklist standard, and requires your facility to
have a DICOM Modality Worklist provider.
• If this feature is configured on your
system, the Enter or search for patient
window contains an enhanced user
interface that includes two tabs:

subtabs.
– The Patient Query tab
• allows you to search for a
patient in the Modality Worklist
provider using several
different search criteria.
– The Todays Worklist tab
• allows you to retrieve a daily
worklist of patients and visits
from the RIS.
• Local dB tab
– allows you to manually enter
patient information, or search the
local database for a patient.

Gain Calibrate
• The purpose of this process is to
compensate the x-ray image for electronic
gain variations from pixel to pixel.
• This process also compensates for other
characteristics, such as x-ray field non-
uniformity including the heel effect of the
x-ray tube, conversion gain variations in
a-Se material, and non-uniformity in the
image receptor cover or x-ray tube filter
materials.
Gain Calibrate
• To apply gain correction, multiple difference
images of a 4 cm thick acrylic plate covering the
image receptor's active area are acquired and
arithmetically averaged to create a single gain
calibration file.
• This gain calibration is done periodically by the
user (typically every 14 days). The resulting gain
calibration file is stored on the acquisition station
computer hard disk, and is loaded into computer
memory before each image acquisition cycle.
During image acquisition, each pixel value of the
difference image is multiplied by the
corresponding gain calibration factor to correct for
image pixel to pixel variations in the image.
