    • My upazilla is surrended by Chalan beel, largest beel in Bangladesh.
    Major crops produced here are Rice, Onion, Wheat, Corn, Lentil,
    Garlic, Sugarcane etc.

    • Hasan Ali (50) lives in Chalanbeel area. His family consists of 9
    members. All of them are involved in the production of Hasan. He
    has 7 bighas land where he cultivates Paddy, Onion, Corn, Wheat,
    Lentil etc.

    Challenges
    • Labour shortage: According to Hasan, sometimes he has to struggle
    finding labour and he has to pay upto 700taka per day. During bad
    weather, harvesting become very difficult.
    • Dealership of chemical fertilizer:
    • Kalboishakhi storm usually affects the crops a lot and we can see
    Hailstorm which damages the crops.
    • Midleman worsen market a lot.
    • There is a very weak infrastructure and peasants suffer a lot to reach
    their product at the market.
    • Inspite of having few challenges, Hasan Ali longs for future prospect.
    • He is getting updated using mobile phone. There is an emergency call service – 16123 from which he is getting all the updates about latest technologies and services. Government
    is also providing subsidy and bank loan as well to make his cultivation smoother.
