FIRST GROUP MEETING.
SECOND GROUP MEETING
The Mighty
Motherboard: The
Heart and Soul of
your Computer
•The Motherboard is like the main hub of a
computer. It is a big circuit board that connects all
the different parts of the computer together.
THE MOTHERBOARD HAS A BUNCH OF SLOTS AND THINK OF THE MOTHERBOARD AS THE FOUNDATION OF THE MOTHERBOARD IS LIKE THE "BRAIN" OF A PC.
CONNECTORS WHERE YOU CA PLUG THINGS LIKE CPU, RAM YOUR COMPUTER. WITHOUT IT, ALL THE OTHER
AND STORAGE DEVICES. IT ALSO HAS PORTS FOR COMPONENTS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE
CONNECTING THINGS LIKE USB DEVICES, SPEAKERS, AND AND WORK TOGETHER.
ETHERNET CABLES.

CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT
• This is the Brain of the Computer. It performs all the
calculations and executes instruction.
• It handles tasks such as running programs, processing
data and controlling the overall operation of a
computer.
• The CPU is located in a socket on the motherboard and
it is connected to other components like memory,
storage, and input/output devices.
• It is an essential part of a computer performance.
RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY
• This is a type of memory that is used for temporary
storage of data that computer needs to access quickly.
• It is like the computer's short term memory. The more
RAM the computer has, the more programs and task it
can handle simultaneously without slowing down.
• RAM is different from storage devices like hard
drives or SSDs which stores data even when the
computer is turned off.
• SCENARIO: When you open a program, it
gets loaded into RAM so that the CPU can
quickly access and work with data.
GRAPHICS PROCESSING UNIT
• This is a component that is responsible for displaying
graphics on the screen. It works with the CPU to handle
the visual aspects of the computer's operation.
• CPU COOLER This helps to blow air over the heat sink.
It is attached to the CPU using thermal paste to ensure
efficient heat transfer. It is important to have a reliable
CPU cooler to prevent the CPU from overheating, which
can affect the performance and potentially damage the
hardware.
CMOS BATTERY
• This is a small battery located on the motherboard of a
computer. It provides power to the CMOS
(Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) chip,
which stores important system settings, such as date
and time, BIOS and other hardware settings.
• The CMOS battery ensure that these settings are
retained even when the computer is powered off or
unplugged and if the battery becomes weak, it can
cause issues like incorrect date and time or BIOS
settings being reset.
NORTH BRIDGE AND SOUTH
BRIDGE
• NORTH BRIDGE: The North bridge is responsible for connecting
CPU to high-speed components like the RAM and the graphics card.
It manages data transfers between the CPU and these components
ensuring efficient communication.
