INSTALLATION AND CONFIGURATION OF

CENTOS 9
DOWNLOAD THE INSTALLER

• The installation file can be


downloaded from
https://www.centos.org/cent
os-stream/
. A screen like this will
appear.

• Select version 9 and left-


click on the link that says
x86_64. The download of
the ISO file will start
immediately.
INSTALLATION
REQUIREMENTS

For this installation, I used a virtual machine (VM). This environment would
be for development or testing purposes. We need to:
•Download Oracle VirtualBox software.
•Create a virtual machine.
•Processor: 4 vCPUs
•Memory: 4 GB
•Hard Disk: 20 GB
•Point to the ISO file of the installer.
•Computer
•Mouse
•Keyboard
•screen
INSTALL CENTOS
9
Start the virtual machine with the
settings established in the
previous section.
Select Boot
Choose the first option, "Install
CentOS Stream 9.“
Verify Devices:
The system checks the devices on
the computer. It displays a screen
with a checklist of all the devices.

LANGUAGE

It allows us to choose the


language. We select Spanish /
Español and click on the
Continue button.

SUMMARY
A summary of the installation is
displayed. Here, if necessary,
you can change the
configurations, as several
defaults appear, such as
keyboard layout, date, and time.
We complete the configurations
that are highlighted in red.

DESTINATION
Here, we select the
installation destination by
choosing the disk or
partition where we want to
install the software. We click
on the Done button.
CREATE USER
We create a user for our server; typically,
this user created during the installation
process will be the system administrator.
We enter:
•Full name of the user
•Username for the session
•Check "Make this user an administrator"
•Check "A password is required to use this
account"
•Enter the password
•Type the password again to confirm
We left-click on the Done button.
INSTALLATION
SUMMARY (FINALIZE)

Once we finish configuring all


the parameters, we check that
there are no alerts (messages
in red). We left-click on the
Install Now button.
INSTALLATION
PROCESS
The progress bar in the middle
of the screen indicates the
percentage of the installation's
progress. This process takes
about 5 to 7 minutes.
COMPLETION OF
THE INSTALLATION
After all the packages are
installed, the system
displays the message
"Complete!" We click on the
Reboot System button.
LOGIN
Then a screen appears with
the user created earlier. We
click on the user, enter the
password, and press Enter.
DESKTOP VIEW

The desktop appears, and we


can start working on our server
with CentOS 9.
